I have some left over cassia from two unseccesful treatments months ago, my hair always feels SO coated with them and not at all better after the cassia treatments. Has anyone ever done a cassia treatment with other ingredients so it doesn't feel so coated? Maybe mixed with conditioner when washing, with shampoo? Or as a DT, if so what recipe? All suggestions welcome!

You can do a moisturizing gloss (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=154) or just mix it with conditioner for easier application and washing out.

I might modify this, but its a great starting point. I fear it may not turn out well because I also fear my hair hates cassia.... maybe a DT with it might be better?

I know exactly what you mean Cassia make my hair dry for days. I plan to do the DT soon so I don't know yet, but other people say it does work better when it comes to avoiding dryness. *shrug*

I know exactly what you mean, that's why I waited to reply until I finished my second cassia treatment.

This is what I did:
- overnight oiling (Neelibhringadi Ayurvedic Hair Oil (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=34344) on the scalp and coconut oil on the length)
- scalp scrub (EVOO+granulated sugar)
- clarifying (Suave Naturals Daily Clarifying Shampoo)
- chelating (Itely Chelating Treatment Shampoo)
- ACV rinse (I didn't want to use regular conditioner, recipe 1 tea spoon ACV for 8oz of water)
- Cassia + conditioner (4 hour mask left on my damp hair, recipe: 50 g cassia+water left for 4 hours to process before mixing it with 8 spoons of Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Conditioner)
- CO (twice) with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Conditioner to wash out the Cassia, used after I rinsed most of the mud out of my hair.

Using 2 COs to wash out the Cassia definitely eliminated any dryness I felt from it, and mixing the mud with conditioner made it easier to apply and wash out. I let the cassia process for 4 hours, and left it on my head for 4 hours, because I bought it from HennaSooq (http://www.hennasooq.com/organic-cassia-obovata/) and their directions say: "Mix powder with warm or hot water and let sit for 3-4 hours. [...] Wrap your hair and leave on for at least 3-4 hours."

The whole thing took about 24 hours total. And here is a photo after my hair dried:

I hope that helps! :)

I love the results this time around. My hair is shinier, smoother and softer (maybe even a bit fuller). Thank you! I hope it works as well for you as it did for me! Good luck! :D

This weekend, I might try this, I'm not saying its going to work...my hair's crazy I swear! I mixed 50/50 of my brown color shampoo to my new-found miracle shampoo and my hair is less than stellar today...one little change, it freaks out! I just don't understand this...craziness...

When I read the title of the thread I thought it was about using cassia to help alcoholics quit drinking!

My hair does that too, that's why I do a clarify&chelate double feature build-up removal every now and then to "reset" my hair. :D

Yeah, just did that a week ago, my hair just freaks out even more and takes twice as long to go back to normal....there's no winning for me...at least your hair resets! Lucky!:)

The effects of alcohol withdrawal like sweating, shaking, etc, are detox problems, aka DTs.

Lol! I get it now...didn't even think about it that way, now it makes sense. See, told you us LHC's live in a different world...DT to us means deep treatment.:)

It usually does to me as well, I was very confused as to how my friend drinking heavily could possibly have made him deep treat his hair.
