View Full Version : The most common hairtype is...

trillian
May 7th, 2012, 08:19 PM
Drumroll please. For all of the 1s out there - 1b-M-ii - with 202 individuals claiming it as their hair type. :cheese:

EDIT - I got around to the 2s! and Now the 3s! See page 3 for the run down of 2s - but the most common of the 2s is... 2a - M - ii, with 174 members claiming it as their hair type.

See page 5 for the run-down of 3s. But with 34 individuals, we have a winner with 3a F/M ii.

This potentially flawed study / information brought to you by sheer perversity, and the search members function.

Its very interesting to see the splits in hair types though :)

hot dang. impressive. this should go down as stored history on LHC.

It makes sense, though, doesn't it? We're just looking at straight hair, and the most common just happens to be the average: medium amount of body/wave, medium thickness, medium coarseness. I find the numbers themselves more interesting. It seems pretty rare to have coarse, perfectly straight hair. And I always suspected it was rare to have thick and fine hair (which I did when I was younger). I kind of want to graph it out...

ETA: Boredom and curiosity combined, and a graph (or three) was born! It's over-simplified, I think, but I really just wanted a visual representation for comparison (hence why I kept the grid the same for all). The way I did it makes it harder to see which specific hair type is most popular, but I think the numbers took care of that. Click the thumbnails for full-size.

Wow! Amazing! Do I see right or is 1a/F/i really the second common 1-type here?

Also... So many other 1a/F/ii's. :)

(Sorry for my language. I haven't had any coffee today.)

That's interesting, where I live I think the most common hair type is something like 2c\3a.

I had actually started this because I searched for my own hair twin, and was really surprised to find there were only 12 out there. I wouldn't have thought my hair was that unusual.

I would actually love to crunch the numbers for the remainder of the population of LHC and do some graphical representation and statistical analysis, but I am not sure if anyone else would be interested in the info.

LMAO. I'm laughing because we both did this search and our hair stats are so close to being twins.

Wow! I would have expected 1c or 2a to be most common.
We also conducted a study in 2006 at my university where most people invited (500) fell into the wavy range.
Not LHCers though it seems! :D

I have 26 hair twins without hair loss and 86 right now! Wow!

I'm not surprised. I don't know very many people with 1a hair- that is poker-stick straight with NO waves whatsoever.

I'm actually not sure of my hair's type...I just classified it based on just assumptions. When it gets long again, I'll probably retype.

Go to the members list. Click "search members" in the corner of the list (advanced search). Then it's pretty self-explanatory from then on.

Yay! See, I started out with something almost exactly like this (but rainbow, because I have a thing for rainbows), and then I got frustrated because I wanted to include all the data in a single graph. So I did this (http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/zz235/CeruleanSiren/LHC/LHCgraph.png) instead. I love those pie charts too.
:hifive:

I started to do this myself but didn't get past the 1s. It's interesting that there are different numbers of different hairtypes, but what I find most interesting are the zeroes (where nobody's picked it). It seems like coarse and thin hair is just really uncommon.
And on the subject of hairtwins - I have 73, 37, 39 or 15 depending on which hairtype I decide to pick. I'm not sure which type you included me in, but I'm guessing it's the one I have right now (2c/3a M ii) because this is pretty recent. Now if only I could make an actual ponytail, then I could measure my thickness. I guess pigtails will have to do. And I can never decide how fine fine hair is. If anyone wants to tell me, be my guest.
 (That's directed at me, not at you.)

Wow, those numbers got small fast! Made it easier to graph, though. (As usual, click the thumbnail for full-size.)

Oooh I have 34 hair twins. Though my hair right now seems really thin from a massive shed. I didn't bother to update my stats as I know it will grow back (and it better be glourious when it does).

Only three twins for me, ah well. It does help make sense of why so many bits of advice offered at LHC don't work well for my hair. I think looking at the advice-offerer's hairtype can sometimes help sort out what bits are more worth trying than others. Aaah, have I even posted my hairtype?? Off to check....

@leslissocool I'm not a "twin" but I'm pretty close? ^__^
