Hi! I'm new and still learning the search engine so I apologize if there is already a thread with this info.

I've basically been doing benign neglect and haven't gotten a trim in months, but recently decided I wanted to try some S&D. I went to the beauty supply store to get some trimming scissors but I'm not sure I got a good kind? I didn't want to spend $50 or $200 on the really good ones because I'm not yet sure I'll be any good at trimming.

I got $12 FROMM Shape 5 3/4 (no idea what that means) #786 basic, stainless steel hair cutting shears with smooth blades.

Will these be ok? I'd rather return them and pay more money if these blades will cause damage. They seem sharp, but I read if they blades aren't good they can cause more split ends.

Thanks!

I use a $10 one from Sally's (http://www.sallybeauty.com/Hair-Cutting-Kit/SBS-525002,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH) and I've been using it for the past year and a half. I'm very happy with the results and have no complaints whatsoever.
