I was thinking of doing a lemon juice rinse, when I realized that I don't have any lemons! All I have is bottled lemon juice which has some preservatives in it and I don't want that to affect the results.
I do, however, have navel oranges and I'm wondering if that would work? It has citric acid in it (Vitamin C) and I'm guessing that's part of the effect?
Ideas anyone?

It might work. There are several acids in oranges. Vitamin C is actually ascorbic acid, and they also contain citric acid. The sugar content is probably higher though, so that may do weird things.

Ah, whoops, thanks for calling that to my attention! Yeah the sugars might be a problem, not sure what the effect of sugar would be...

I've used Meyer lemon juice, a lemon-tangerine hybrid with no ill effects.
Rinse well, and maybe incorporate a drop or two of conditioner, like some people do with vinegar.

The other day, I decided that I wanted to start using aloe juice on my hair, but I ended up with some weird berry flavored variety, the second ingredient of which is fructose. It doesn't seem to have adversely affected my hair at all.
The oranges might do the trick for you, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got less drastic results than a regular ol' lemon or ACV rinse. Keep us posted!

Meyer lemons are a lemon tangerine hybrid? I have a Meyer lemon tree and did not know this!
