I'm doing the 'wear your hair up for X amount of time challenge'; in my case X being 60 days. But I am on day one and I need some inspiration, some quirky, hair/wallet friendly updos.

So come on what are you waiting for? Get posting your best updos with a nice description of how you achieve them (if you please)

Well, I don't know if you're referring to the lace crown braid or something else.

If you meant the lace crown, then yes, I think you might be able to do it.

Other styles that might interest you are the Gibson Tuck, the French Twist, the Sock Bun and the Peacock Twist. Tutorials can be found in the Articles section (grey menu bar, above).

You also might be able to do a center French "Dutch" or French "English" braid.

Just remember...keep practicing and don't give up. Good luck!
ps. You might like to mist your hair with water to help with braiding. And be sure, always, ALWAYS, detangle your hair before you begin styling.

do you consider braids 'up', if so the five strand dutch braid is my favorite

it is just a dutch braid, braided all the way down and then bunned
my hair was 28 inches when I did both of these so maybe you can too?
