Check out my new hair sticks, they are made of coco wood (super sustainable! It is a by product from the coconut growing industry :)) with silver plated & swarovski toppers :)http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss241/sarelis_photos/DSCF2006.jpg

Thank you :) These are my first self made sticks, I bought the actual sticks really cheaply on Ebay, £6 for a pack of 6 chopsticks inc. delivery :) I had to cut them down & sand them a bit. Now to see what I can do with the rest!

Thanks everyone, yes I love the coco wood, it's grain is really pretty. I did find it a bit splintery when I was sharpening them but it sands really easily, when it was smooth I rubbed a little coconut oil into them, that really brought out the grain :)

i have a silly "newbie" question. can those hair sticks be used on super fine hair? i've been trying to do an updo with mine and they slide right out

I had the same problem when I was new. One thing that helps - don't comb your hair all perfect and smooth before you bun it. Buns thrive on texture. I've seen hair-stylist videos where they blow-dry and even flat-iron all nice and smooth, then tease (back-comb) the hair to create some texture. Duh! Just don't get it all smooth and perfect in the first place.

Keep trying with the sticks; you'll get it.

P.S. - love the sticks! Where can I get some? I wouldn't want the toppers; I break that stuff right off.

Thanks everyone :) Spidermom, I got the coco wood chopsticks from Ebay, dead cheap, but I am in the UK, you could try looking for some on the US Ebay :)
