Six Months Progress

First of all. I am so peeved right now. Photobucket changed its editor and I can't figure out how to get side-by-side pictures now. GRRR. If you know the secret, let me know!

So here's my six month progress. I'm very pleased with it. I tried a lot of things since I came to this site. I'm still finding what works for me. For a while I CO washed but switched back to CWC. I found Manic Panic Vampire Red and LOVE it. I found out about coconut oil and a BBB and love it! I also like Chi Silk Infusion.

It's long enough, that I need to think more about protective styles. I'm looking into that. I fidget with my hair too much - braiding, unbraiding loose braid, ponytail/unponytail, clip/unclip, and brushing in between. I need something tight enough that it won't move around. I'm not having a lot of luck with buns and hairsticks so any advice would be great.

I only did one trim in in the last nine months, which did help with seeing maximum growth. I'm too lazy to SD.

Anyway, here's some hope for all you ladies who think your hair will never get long. It WILL!

I wish I had tips. My hair has always grown pretty fast. All I can really recommend is to not trim if you can avoid it. My hair would be even longer without the trim. It erased about a month or so of progress.


Right on! You are doing a fantastic job. Your hair looks very moisturized--what routine is working for you currently?
My best recommendation is benign neglect. I know it's not the advice most want to hear. I live in a humid climate which does a lot of work. I don't really do much. I don't have a strict routine. The coconut oil and BBB probably help though. I also love Herbal Essence Touchably Smooth conditioner. It helps straighten my hair a bit, which tames the flyaways.

Right now, I'm working on getting my stash cleared. So I'm using Ovation (no, I don't think it is what made my hair grow - don't waste your money!). I only wash every two or so days.

What's your goal length? It looks like you could go really long.
