View Full Version : Tried to bring my waves out.

So I washed my hair per usual, and this time did not towel dry. I finger-combed slightly to part it, and then used a tiny bit of my mom's MoroccanOil that she uses on her curly hair. And then I scrunched for a bit, and then just let it dry. Here are the results:

As you can see, my hair flips out totally on JUST one side. There are some parts of it that lay completely straight, and others that are not. My hair just can't decide what it wants! There was literally no change doing all this and air-drying the regular way.

Either way, I think it looks horrible and feel like maybe I should just stick with blow drying and just trim away any damage that happens every 6 months. It sucks, cause I hate blow drying and it's ultimately a pain to do, but this just looks messy and unkempt on me. :(

This is pretty normal for this stage really (I've been here too many times!). Try experimenting with little clips and headbands and stuff to see if you can't get it to look good and airdry. Shorter hair looks super chic with a few accessories.

In all honesty, wavy/wurly/curly hair usually looks ridiculous at your length....and it doesn't really settle in to a pattern that's discernable until it's around shoulder or more.

It can be obnoxious :D But there's hope! Just blow it into whatever style you like until you reach that point and give it another go. You won't kill your hair too much (because you're not talking about YEARS and YEARS and once you reach the length you like you can slowly trim off any damage).

You are at a stage where you don't have a lot of weight yet, so waves can get out of control. Oh I know that stage. I used to straighten my hair at that stage just so I didn't have to deal with it. I wish I hadn't. If you can't manage the waves in a way you like, I'd suggest pinning them back somehow. Once your hair gets longer, the waves will be more consistent (like in my signature). My hair is heavy enough, that I can't get the top to wave. But it's okay - I generally try to brush my wave out if at all possible.

Also, you will find some days your hair just magically works for you and looks great. Treasure those days and forget the rest!

Good luck!

Took your advice and used the blow dryer, and I feel much better. I think I can walk out of the house now without looking like a maniac. :p

So yeah, I think I just gotta do that till I reach a length I like and that weighs my hair down. Here's hoping by Christmas time that my hair starts to behave? lol.
