Liz Taylor wedding hair

I was recently watching a documentary about Liz Taylor, and I saw picture from the wedding of her and Richard Burton, and her hair was amazing! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to how she did it? I am really interested in doing it. I can see it's a rope braid but how do the flowers sit so perfectly on her head? Anyway.. have a look at the photos!

Money.

Specifically, money to pay a florist or milliner (it's hard to tell from the picture precisely which) to construct a floral wreath headdress. Then her hairdresser would have attached it to her hairstyle rather the way royalty attaches tiaras. The hairdresser would use some tricks like having the headdress's base wrapped in ribbon to match Ms Taylor's hair, and then there'd be some method of attaching it securely. Depending on how long a day it was, it might be attached with side combs, hair pins, or even sewn into her hair. It'd also depend on her hair type :).

It's definitely possible to learn to do similar stuff tho. Queen Elizabeth does her own hair, always, and it's not like her hair ornaments go flopping around any more than us LHCers would have a hair fork go flop. (tho I'm sure something like 70 years of practice doing her hair doesn't hurt anything!)

Umm...Queen Elizabeth II wears wigs. I remember a few years ago a guy broke into Buckingham palace and into her bedroom and saw a lot of her wigs. She also has maids....so...money. I have never seen her wear a hair ornament not that that means she never wears any.

Definitely a lot of manipulation with combs among the flowers. And of course the hairpiece itself. It didn't look like a rope braid to me, but rather a length of fake hair that was twined with the floral garland.

It would have been much prettier if the flowers on top weren't so overdone.

I thought the braid/twist with flowers was pretty, but the top was to much. I also agree with those who said money ;)

Apparently Queen Elizabeth II wears a wig for public occasions because she can't stand people fussing with her hair

This hairstyle is over the top.Like others have said this must be a conbination of a hairpiese and lots of bobby pin or combs

in this one, it does look like some kind of rope braid

and this one makes it look like her natural hair was pulled into a sort of sock bun style (although at that time, it was likely set and teased and sprayed into submission) and that's where the wreath of flowers anchors

definitely looks like a classic up-do (French twist, perhaps) with a rope braid wrapped in a floral garland

looking at other photos from the same time frame, I'd have to say the rope braid was a "fall" (I think that's what I remember my mom calling the fake hair pieces from that time lol)

While I agree that I would probably want a little less in my own hair, she is quite stunning and I love how the flowers seem woven in the hair. I don't know how hair friendly (safe) it would be, but I wonder if you could get a similar (though lesser) style by clipping one of the fake flower vines they sell at Michaels at the top of the head and either incorporating into one strand of a braid or using it as a strand of the braid itself. Hmmm. I can think of several costumes for which this would be lovely. Thanks for the links!
