First of all I would like to say that I love to be a user on this forum. I love how people here are nice and encouraging to each other. I am so happy to show you the results and I also can't wait to hear what you think :D

The before picture was taken in 05.10.11, so it was five months and 10 days ago. The picture was poor quality, pictures from 2012 are much better quality as I bought a new camera :)

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/7034/051011.jpg

Than, after 2 months, I had a 1" trim

http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/5559/trimformat.jpg

As you notice, the layers looked horrible before the trim :/

This is how my hair looks right now

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/8777/150412bluetop.jpg

It is sooooo much better, but I'm still not happy with the layers.

On the next picture you can see the asymmetrical W hemline

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1874/linieg.jpg

I would happily cut everything, up to the line 1, off but I will hear what you think first :)

Thank you for every answer :blossom:

Nice progress!it looks so smooth and shiny :)
And well if it really bothers you you should trim it off, in once or little by little.
Personally i dont think its that bad and you can also just wait until it grows a bit longer,a lot of times it evens out, hair grows uneven after all though.

A hair-twin! :waving: Your hair looks so glossy and healthy, it's lovely :). Good progress, too.

About the trim, if you'd feel better by cutting everything from 1 down, I'd say go for it. If you're looking for a fuller-looking hemline, maybe you'll feel happier by evening out all your hair and getting rid of the rest of the layers forming the uneven hemline? But if you feel apprehensive before cutting all that hair in one go, you can start with 3, and then 2, then 1, by microtrimming. Whatever makes you happier!

I would go with number one. Once you cut off the layers, you can just let it grow with a thick even hemline.

It depends on how brave you are, how close you are to your goal and how much you're willing to wait to reach that goal I think!

If you're brave(r than me), I think you should cut it to line 1. You'd have a perfectly thick hemline :) And boy, do I ever love a thick hemline haha

But your hair is gorgeous anyways! very lustrous! And your ends don't look too bad as is :)

A hair-twin! :waving:

WOW that is a great complement, thank you :D It's been always my dream to have long hair like yours, but people would discourage me telling me that my hair is too fine and thin to look good long :(

Thank you girls for advice, I'm still thinking. I will probably decide in a week or so :D I really can't believe what a hairstylist did to my hair xd a W hemline, an asymmetric one xd

It seems to me I'm rather far from my goal length which is MB or at least BSL (I believe I will get there in another 6 months, and will think about WL...).

I'm quite brave xD but I'm not sure how it will look like when I cut it, and how I cut it O_o

That definitely depends on how bad you feel about it. Maybe you'd like to hear, I was in a very similar situation like you and I choose triming from BSL to APL. At the end, I feel more positive than the negative. My braids look much better and I love it :)

At the end, I feel more positive than the negative. My braids look much better and I love it :) I feel bad, and I think that it will look worst and worst if I don't do anything with it :( (see the first photo - from October, and the photo from before the December trim).

I'm definitely doing something, I'll probably go with at least the line number 2.

Now I have another question.

How do I trim? Have you got any propositions? Where can I find tutorials?

Your hair looks really healthy but i can see why it might bother you why not take off just a inch i'm not sure if you could self trim but here is what most people do

http://feyeselftrim.livejournal.com/

I just remembered i used to self trim at BSL so you might be able to do it yourself. Good luck.

I'd go for nr1. It will grow back nice and even and thick. You'll be much happier with it, and after all, that is what matters. Also, feye's self trim method is really easy. Just start by trimming a small amount, so you don't end up regretting the cut. :)

I'd double check just to make sure there really is that much thinness higher up, and it's not just how the hair is lying. Give it a shake and check again, you know? then whack it and microtrim, if the ragged hemline bothers you.

In any case, can I just complement you on your

*shiny shiny* :sun::sun::rockerdud hair?

Lovely hair! :)
Can't help much regarding cutting it...It looks good to me and I don't think you have to! :)
But when I didnt like my ends from heavy layering I trimmed 4 inches with no regrets :)

That is fantastic! I loved the slight U-shape, I even tried to follow the steps but I think my hair is too short for the self trimming method (especially the step 3 is impossible for me) so I decided to ask my husband for help. To make it easy for him I decided it's going to be a straight-across trim inch by inch up to, I think at the moment, the line number 1. We will see.

Thank you girls for lovely comments, It is really encouraging :flowers:

A BONUS ;)

This is how my braid has changed since January

Love it! I can't wait to see you at your goal length, your hair already looks so pretty! So soft, and such a lovely color! :D

Also, your braid! Look at the increase in your circumference!!

Nice progress. :) I wouldn't trim everything off just yet. Take a few other pictures first, hair tends to look differently at different times, depending also on when you take the picture (before, right after a wash), so I wouldn't fully rely on one picture.

I've been taking pictures every month since October (photos in my public album), the short layer is definitely 2-3 inches shorter than the long layer, you can see it clearly here click (http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/372/januarynewtop.jpg). Thank you for advice, I will do the cutting step by step, 0.2" by 0.2" ;)

Honeyfall, Amber_Maiden thank You :*

I don't think W hemlines are that bad. I get one naturally. I find adding some cute curls or waves, or just doing different styles makes it less noticeable. :)
Good job!

Judging by those pics, I do think you have great potential to grow beautiful hair! :) I mean, your hair looks so sleek and glossy and lovely, and not thin at all! Don't let people discourage you!

I agree, but mine hemline wasn't natural ;) I hated the layers and now I feel good about my new thick hemline xd

Your April 12th trim looks amazing! If you're going to cut it yourself, start with cutting it up to line 2, and that way if you're ready to cut it to line 1 afterwards you can do so without paying twice. If you're going to a hairdresser (and therefore paying) I would cut it to line 1 right away, because you wouldn't want to pay to have it cut to line 2, then pay once more to cut it even shorter if you're still dissatisfied with the hemline. Good luck! :)

Good luck! :) You mean the second picture (http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/5559/trimformat.jpg)? If yes 04.12.11 means December 4th 2011 not April 12th 2011 xd the notation is common where I live, but I decided to use different notation from now on ;)
The recent trim is a history, you can see the results on a previous page click (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showpost.php?p=2089623&postcount=28) (and also below ;) ), fortunately I didn't have to spend fortune on a hair stylist, my husband did it (the trim from December was also his job :) ).

Thank you all for lovely comments, I feel really encouraged and inspired :) I start to believe that my hair is going to look good long and might even go for a waist length xd I wouldn't even dream about it without the forum and things you say!

***

I decided to take a length photo in the beige top once a month, and in the blue (baggy) top every 3 months. I also will take a picture of a braid every month :)

http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/3676/200412bluetop.jpg

The hemline is perfectly straight, the ends flipped for some reason :p

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2628/200412braid.jpg

To make it more accurate I decided to always stop braiding in the same place, it will help me compare the thickness.
