A thread in the mane forum made me think of this. I guess some people use cornstarch or store bought powder mixes to use between washings, and I just tried something I've been using as face powder for years. I make a mix of half rice powder and half crushed pearl powder. Yes, it's real pearls. It's been used in the orient for years on skin and even internally, apparently pearls are chock full of nutrients and enzymes. I can vouch for the fact that it's great for the skin, I'm 51 now, and I have to say, my skin looks great, I have barely a wrinkle. So anyway, I decided to try the mix on my unwashed hair, and it worked great! It immediately soaked up the oil and made my hair look fuller and cleaner, and I can only guess that the pearl powder is as good for the hair as it is for the skin. It disappeared completely right away too. I have light hair, can't vouch for how it will look on dark hair. BTW, I got the powders on ebay, neither are expensive. Here's a couple of links:

You can also tint the powder with tiny amounts of mica pigments, which is what I do for the face powder:http://stores.ebay.com/COASTALSCENTS-MINERALS-BEAUTY-BATH_Mica-Powder-Pigments-Dyes_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZ1QQfsubZ8QQftidZ2QQtZkm
