When I was 15, I used Hennalucent Blush Blonde "henna", and I remember adoring the result, which, over my naturally blonde hair, was a faint hint of reddish pink. It wasn't an extreme change, it just lent my locks a warm, blushy hue. 10 years later, I'd like to try that colour again, but I am having a difficult time finding a product that might give a similar vague hint of reddish pink, without an extremely noticeable difference. The Hennalucent is since discontinued, and I can hardly find anything even remotely close to it.

Here are a few images that come the closest to representing the colour I seek.

I don't want it so red that I can be considered to have red hair, so I'm not sure I could use an actual henna to achieve the look. Maybe mixed with cassia? I don't know. Any suggestions?

(I hope my sentences are comprehensible. It's pretty late and I'm jet-lagged, but I missed TLHC!)

I'd say mix it with cassia. Maybe 90-95% cassia and the rest henna.

I would put in just a dash of henna and then only leave it on for a fraction of the time. It's a delicate place between blond and red where you want to go and it would be harder to undo if you go to dark.

I agree with both of you. Thanks!

I was also wondering if a more subtle approach like calendula, rhubarb, hibiscus, etc. could work?

I haven't played with any of those so I am empty on advise. I wonder if they make a red toner...as soon as I typed that it hit me in the head- John Freda makes a red toner, go redder. Just like go blonder.

The top few inches of my hair are about the color in the second two pictures.
I changed from using henna alone to henna and cassia and that's the kind of result I'm getting.

The proportions are (roughly) 80% cassia 20% henna - but that IS a rough estimate, I don't measure properly!
It might be better to try 90% cassia first to make sure it's not too red.

I leave it on for about one and a half hours (just on my roots, I use straight cassia on the length which is a lot redder, but no-one notices until I hold the ends up to my scalp to show them. It actually looks ok!

Nightshade sells a strawberry blonde mix and it yields a similar color.
I'd leave it on for less than an hour if I were you.
A light mix of your own could be good too.

If it comes a bit too dark there is a lemon juice conditioner trick that you can use to lighten it up a bit. It works better right after.
