I remember reading an article in a magazine in my mid-teens that said adding Sweet n' Low to your conditioner can increase your hair's shine. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I'm thinking of getting a few extra packs of S&L next time I'm at a coffee place and trying it...

I think I've read something similar before but does sweet n' low count as a sugar (ose)? I thought it was aspartame...

I did a sugar "mask" type thing at a slumber party a few years back. My hair felt weird. It was very stringy, not dry, but like I couldn't make it flow as one unit, each strand was on its own, and it was dull. This could just be my hair, and who knows what else was in the "mask".

Sweet n' Low may have other properties similar sugar and have the same effect, but it is sugar alcohol rather than an 'ose'. Maybe it's the granular state that gives shine?
