Perusing around YouTube tutorials, I caught one of Lilith Moon's where she uses a sort of back-combing technique for volume and texture, but just kind of finger-combs it back. On second watch, it looks like she's pinching some of it tighter than I thought originally, but I'm not sure. Anyone tried this? Do you think it would be less damaging than back-combing?

(It takes her forever to get to that part - just skip to about 3:00)

Probably gentler than backcombing, but still looks damaging. I'm sure once or twice won't hurt, you could try it and see how it looks? intresting concept, cool idea.

It certainly looks kinder and gentler.

That gal sure can throw her hair up in some very pretty styles.

It's probably better to use this technique when you can't avoid that sort of styling.

Someone did it to me once and it was painful...
