What length is this?

Sounds silly I know but I think of myself as having "almost" hip length hair but my hips are such a big expanse (from top to bottom) that I'm just not certain if I'm not quite there, made it or overshot.

Can you give me your opinion of my length? I folded my arms across my body in the first pic, the second one I'm putting my thumbs at my waist where I'm wearing a belt but you can't see it due to my cape of hair. My waist is quite high and waist to hip seems to be taking a LONG time. (Edited to add that I have added a pic of it straightened on page 3 of this thread)

ETA: I wonder what term we can use for btw waist and hip. Lower Back Length? (Though that can mean anything of the sort.)

Tailbone is about where the stitching forms an upside down peak. Not sure whether to grow to there or not. I have a really long torso... I'm thinking of cutting in more layers next time because my waist is getting lost with all my hair and it's my best feature bodywise.

Hmm. Hard to tell, but I'd say that the tip of the V-stitching would be tailbone, and the bottom of your belt loops would be hip. Though I agree that hip is a really ambiguous mile stone. I'd say your just barely at hip by my thinking, or solidly past you the top of your hip bones.

Personally, I consider "hip" is where the hip bone is! It's sort of hard to tell in pictures though, as the hip bone isn't generally shown ;). If your hair isn't there yet, I'd say it is very, very close.

I think I see where your hip bones are, an inch perhaps (or less) from where your wrists are in the second picture. And you are definitely past there.
I think hip is an ambiguous milestone, I have seen many on here who are scarcely waist calling hip and those who are more what I would call BCL or almost tailbone, but you are most definitely longer than waist.

Thanks everyone. I knew I was longer than waist. I just wasn't sure I could claim the "hip" title just yet. Well, I'm taking it then. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and thanks for the compliments. I've changed my shampoo and conditioner to something less hydrating and I think it looks a little dry but it feels nice due to the silicones. I'll use this one up and go back to my other stuff.

I think I'm due for an SMT - something to indulge in over Easter I think.

I would definitely not say TB for the first picture, but maybe so for the second. If it were me I'd call it hip. But I didn't notice the length only how pretty it is. :thud:

Thanks, I know it's not tailbone because it's not at "that spot". My torso is so long so my hair has alot of work to do to make each milestone. Still, it's at a length now where each day is only a bonus for me. I really enjoy having hair at this length now and I'm happy to have the layers in there to give it more shape (and show my shape - more importantly) as all one length really hid me body away entirely and was just simply too much hair for me.

Girl, it's about an inch from tailbone! like an inch from BCL (Butt crack length) which is true tailbone for me... I love your hair :crush:.

I think the longest length looks a bit past hip and approaching tailbone. Some of this is assumption, since I am thinking of where the top of my jeans sits on my body. Also, since you are wavy-haired, if you pulled it straight to measure I don't think there would be any question about being at/past hip.

Definitely hip (well, past high hip) and on your way to TB. To me, "hip" is when you reach the top of the hip bones (high hip), and you're there!

If your thumbs are at the top of your hips and they're hidden by your waterfall of hair, then you're definitely at hip length. Not tailbone, though. You've reached a milestone. About now and up to classic length you'll have to begin tweaking how you do some updos since you simply have more hair overall.

I'd agree that you look like you're hip length in the curly pictures (defining hip around here as the top of the pelvic bones). I'd say it's near or at the top of tailbone (read: top of the crack) when it's straightened, but certainly doesn't appear to be there yet when curly.

Yup, seems right! I also loose almost no volume when striaghtened:). Very cool to know you don't loose much either.

I say you are around tailbone length, mainly because your jeans are the popular style resting below waist on your hips. If the top of your jeans was at your true waist level (where you have your hands) your hair would appear longer, I think. Looking at your straightened length it looks tailbone for sure, IMHO! :flower:
