View Full Version : Need some advice on my layers.

I have some layers that I've been trying to grow out for a while. They are maybe a couple of inches past ear length. I feel like tying my hair back might put a lot of stress on them because the band is right at the ends of the layers. If I braid my hair, they fall out of the braid. I'm wondering how I can wear my hair, at least when I'm sleeping or sometimes during the day, to prevent as much breakage as possible.

Hello sweetcaramel, welcome to LHC! :D

I suggest using a satin scrunchie, or a ribbon to tie your ponytail. Other than that you can try to do a peacock twist, Gibson tuck or French twist, although at your length I'm not sure which one would work. If you want to tame the layers in braids you can dampen your hair with water before braiding, or use pure aloe vera gel (the clear kind). You can also use claw clips, if you find hair-friendly ones.

Good luck! :)

for when you are sleeping, try a scarf/hair wrap. it keeps everything all neat and tucked in there.
