Home bleaching

Does anyone here do their own bleach highlights (conventional products rather than honey etc)?

Yes i know its not a good habit to be in, and yes i know there are natural ways. My hair has been bleach highlighted at salons for the past 2 years and i would like to be able to do my root highlights myself to blend in with whats already there.

I've heard horror stories about home highlighting going wrong and been told never to try it on long hair ... but what are your experiences?

We have similar hair, and I home bleached for years. My hair never got long, and always had that kind of orangish brassiness that was sooo unattractive.

Salon bleaching gave me better results and less brassiness, and they can control the levels and amount better to avoid maximizing the damage.

IMO fine hair owners should be very careful with home bleach!

The brassiness is what im really scared of (after overly damaging it of course) and i agree that fine is hair is of concern :s

Hmm, i don't know yet if i dare try it myself! Im having it done at the hairdressers tomorrow so i have a while after that to decide whether to try it myself the next time.
