I saw this in store today:

http://www.waitrose.com/shop/ProductView-10317-10001-26001-Waitrose+baby+solid+coconut+massage+oil

It is marketed as a baby massage oil, but the ingredients are:

Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Vanillin, Tocopherol

Is there any reason why I shouldn't apply this to my hair? I like to use my coconut oil as a body moisturiser as well, and if this can be used for both it'd be awesome!

What do you think?

Thanks!
Jo

I would think it would be fine, although maybe the perservatives would cause build up? try it! It might be wonderful, worst case scenerio, you have to clarify a bit.

I don't tend to put that much on my hair. I use it for my face and body at night and then whatever is left I put on my ends. I haven't ever had to clarify before so it might be okay. I was in the store for ages staring at it, I must've looked quite odd....in the baby section with no baby!

Joflakes, it's just coconut oils with some vanillin added for scent and a little bit of tocopherol (vitamin E) to guard against the coconut oils going rancid. It should be fine for your hair. :D

Might cause buildup, might not. People tend to like pure virgin coconut oil for their hair.

I'd put it on my hair , doesn't look particularly dangerous. They saturated the coconut oil more to help keep it from going rancid (plus the vit E), but all in all also seems fairly natural. I say go for it!

I'd try it maybe on the extra dry occasions like on your ends in the winter time.
