So I searched for one, and I couldn't find a thread for people who wash their hair (CO or S&C, or some variation) daily  (if there is one, please delete this thread!).
Anyone else who has to wash daily? I have a very oily scalp, and within 24 hours I start looking like a grease pit...
What are your reasons, how long have you been doing it, what sorts of products do you use? CO, CWC, S&C?

I personally use Sauve Professionals with Almond and Shea Butter. I've added olive oil, avocado oil and neem oil to the shampoo, and I've found that that helps cut down on the day two greasies, but not enough to stretch washes :(

Who else is out there? I can't be the only one!

I think maybe there's no daily washing thread because the vast majority of people in western society (where probably most of us have grown up) in this day and age wash daily by default, and threads have only so far been made for washing methods that are a departure from this.

But there's no reason why we shouldnt have a daily washing thread!

I pretty much "wash" daily. if I want my curls to look good that day I wash. But when I wash I actually just get my hair wet and rub my scalp a bit, then I put my conditioner in and do not rinse any of it out. I scrunch the excess conditioner and water out then put the gel in.
So I guess I "wash" with just water, then put some conditioner in that has nothing to do with washing - just conditioning and curl clumping.

I use the whole foods 365 brand conditioners. They are very good and moisturizing, have simple ingredients, and no silicones (which build up in my hair because I dont use shampoo).

To me, it seems like more people here stretch their washes than not.
That conditioner sounds awesome, and I've never heard of anything like that method! I'm glad it works so well for you.

I wash daily. I've been doing it since September and me and my hair are loving it. I mostly co wash with whatever conditioner happens to be in the vicinity. I stopped using shampoo in February and will probably only use it when prepping my hair for my color process.

The only time I don't wash daily is when I straighten. I'll not wash for a week just to keep it straight. But because this only happens once every 3-4 months, I still pretty much consider myself a daily washer.

Oh definitely HERE I think a lot more people stretch their washes. But I think most of us (we should do a poll) grew up believing washing every day was "normal" and then went to other washing methods after they learned more about their hair and experimented with what works best for it, and researched healthy hair care. So probably no one thought to do a thread on what they figured everyone else probably already knew about - the current cultural norm of washing everyday with shampoo and conditioner.

But I think it's good to have a thread on washing daily, because here on LHC a lot of people wash daily after having tried other schedules and discovering that they dont work for them for one reason or another. There will be way more contributers like this rather than people that just wash daily because they grew up doing it that way and never thought to do otherwise. In this thread there will be actual REASONS for washing daily - so this thread is a good idea.

You should try Whole Foods brand! They have shampoo that goes along with each conditioner, and I love their brand because 32 ounces only costs like $6 - unlike all the rest of the stuff there, which I usually cant afford... :D

I wash daily, my scalp freaks out with stretching washes where when I wash again I loose so much more hair, I am allergic to sulfates so I use a sulfate free shampoo and cone free conditioner sometimes a leave in sometimes not. I have noticed that since i switched to sulfate free a couple years ago my scalp doesnt get as greesey in one day than it use to.

I guess i belong here...for now....i USED to be able to go 5+ days without washing, but since i have been trying to fix my curl loss issues and get so frusterated with my hair, i wash daily if for no other reason but to hope this all one day fixes itself.....

I love washing daily, or every other day, for not other reason than that I enjoy washing my hair, and a shower without that just feels wrong.

Perhaps the mods could merge the two threads? Loads of info in the older one.

In the summer I definitely wash daily because I cannot stand that nasty sweaty, dirty, stale head smell. LOL If i rub my fingers on my scalp & they smell sweaty, I have to wash. I don't understand how some people can go so long & not be self-conscious (maybe it's just me, but I'd be embarrassed to go out with smelly hair.) I know so many people that don't wash their hair more than a couple times a week & I can barely stand to be near them cuz I can smell their dirty heads. LOL

I do CO-washing, been doing that for several months now. So I am not worried at all about over-cleansing my head/hair. If things seem super yucky up there, i might use shampoo more often, but right now I just shampoo like 1x every 2 weeks. I live where it's extremely hot & humid all summer, so you're drenched in sticky disgusting sweat within 30 seconds of exiting the shower (or the house, if you've got the AC on for relief.)

In the winter I'll only wash every 2nd day, because I hate having to leave the house with wet hair (mine takes hours to air dry.)

The most I've gone is 3 days & I felt pretty gross about it. LOL

I've tried the dry shampoos, but they just give you flowery, powdery scented sweaty, dirty, stale head stink. I don't understand how people can use them. It's like spraying a room spray to try & cover up the garbage stink or bathroom stink - you get perfumed stink, but it still stinks. :D

Not trying to offend anyone, but the not-washing just does not work for me.

There isn't a Whole Foods near me :radar::blueeek:

Could losing so much hair just be due to cleaning out the follicles of hair that would have been lost had you washed it anyway? Like, if you normally lost 10 hairs every wash, but started to wash every other day and started to lose 20? I hope that makes sense...

Same! I usually don't have time to do a scalp massage unless I'm showering, and incorporating my oil/shampoo mixture makes it feel reeeeeeally good.

 I don't know why that didn't come up when I searched for it... I don't know how to go about getting something merged, so... yeah.

I have a really awesome dry shampoo, it's the Tressemme kind, and I love it. I can't use it as a replacement for a real washing, which kind of defeats the purpose, but it's great for when I'm at work (I work concessions in a movie theater ) and I'm covered in grease and need a quick freshening up.
I know what you mean about people who need to wash daily, and don't... I have a friend just like that!
