View Full Version : Growing as long as it will go! (The Terminal Goal Thread)

Since joining this site I have seriously considered reaching knee length but my most important goal is to have nice healthy hair.
Within the last 2 months I had a huge shed. Hair starting falling out and wouldn’t stop. I’ve never lost so much hair before and it definitely affects the hemline and general health of hair. Yesterday I cut an inch off my hair which thickened it up some. I love long hair but hate straggly hair even if it’s knee length so my goals need adjusting from time to time or I get disappointed.
Right now my hair is an inch about tailbone and I’m fairly tall with a long torso. I’d like to reach classic but if that’s not going to happen I’ll be happy with something shorter as long as it looks neat and healthy

My ends have thinned a bit but i don't think I'm at terminal yet. I think since i like to wear it down most of the time that until the main bulk of the thicker hair gets down past my bottom, it will remain thinner. I got a long Layer done in 2015. So i think that is finally showing itself. I only did long layers in the top 2 inches around my part in the crown .

No, I don't think your ends are thin at all. They appear kinda on the thick side to me. It's just like I know that I haven't reached my terminal length either. Because, my ends are still nice and thick but with the texture I have which is on the thick side my ends will never thin out as it grows out. I'v known some people's hair to be that way.

Soo, i haven't been around here on the forum for quite some time... I was really fed up with my hair, and the ends were thin and I wanted to wear it down more...so I cut it..quite drastically, atleast for me...from hip to roundabout bsl. I don not regret it, but now I really want to see how long my hair can grow, and I will really try hard to take care of it better than I have the last couple of years. I guess I'll hang out in this thread fr the next couple of years..!

That is what happened to me a few months ago, before lockdown. Not sure why my husband all of a sudden thought my hair was lighter. He sees me every day. Oh well, nice to get a compliment anyway :)

I'll officially be hanging out here in 2021 I'm enjoying color and my side shave for now then to crack down and let it grow with 1 or 2 trims a year and no dye

I got to 86" and quit. I gradually trimmed and today I am at about 70" and trimming again soon.I never actually planned to grow past ankles but then a family illness took all focus off hair and it grew to 15" past floor. But I grew it that long once.
You can see the length at 70" in this video on youtube. I have been criticized about posting videos directly in threads and "cluttering things up" so here is simply the LINK. (https://youtu.be/xZ2BEwViDEQ)

I'm looking to go for terminal length too. I'm not worried though about it getting too long and unmanageable since I strongly doubt I have genes where my hair will reach the floor and beyond.

JJJ's channel is so good and informative! Beautiful hair :blossom:
I don't have a good track record for actually growing my hair long, as much as I obsess over it, but I would like to see what my terminal is. I've never gone past BSL though and honestly wouldn't be that surprised if it just stopped there but I would like to try and see. The fact that I have a wardrobe of wigs to help me resist coloring and cutting while it grows will hopefully help me just leave it alone and let it grow. I don't think anyone in my family has grown past waist but that may be more because they didn't want to deal with it any longer than that.

I probably belong in this thread, I'm growing as long as it will go until I get sick of it lol. As long as I can get to waist with a decent hemline I think I'll be satisfied!
I did that when I was a kid but I was smaller then. The only person in my family to grow super-long hair got to at least Classic but I don't know if we share hair genes, she's my mom's aunt or cousin I can't remember.
I just can't really see myself cutting my hair. I've tried every style and many colours, the only thing left is to just let it grow and see what happens...

When I tried growing my hair out in my late teens/early twenties, the longest it seemed to get then was between MBL and WL. Am not sure if that's my terminal length or not, but also I wasn't the healthiest back then so that might have had something to do with it. Am looking to just see how it grows, hopefully it gets past WL, but will see. Am looking forward to the journey regardless.

The longest my hair has ever been is hip length at 19, I cut it off from damage due to bleach but mainly I was sick of long hair. I was in cosmetology at the time, and very few hairdressers naturally have hair past MBL. So it feels weird being the one with extremely long hair lol.
So I know i can grow to HL. And that's with super bleach blonde hair. Now my hair is hendigoed with no chemicals, and I only use heat once a year, if that. Usually to curl it, and I think thats not as bad as straightening it since I'm not pulling the hair down and stretching it if that makes sense?
I wonder how long it can grow since its much healthier. I'm hoping tbl, CL is even better though.

I am tentatively dipping a toe in here, because when I started growing I thought I'd be at terminal by now but apparently not. I'm not sure if I will be able to stick it out of my terminal is beyond ankle, but we'll see how it goes. My plan before was to grow until I dislike my hemline, but it feels like, I'll only be growing even closer so maybe I should find out where terminal is, just once? Eh, we'll see

It's absolutely wonderful to see you posting nowadays - I have seen quite a few of your videos and am in AWE because your hair is simply stunning (and the colour I always wished I had)! [I've not yet been successful with any of your buns because I either don't have enough hair or I don't have the right tools (no claw clips, for instance) but, one day, hopefully, I'll make at least one of them work!] But having admired your hair from your videos it's really, really cool to see you here 'in person', as it were
Edit: it's just dawned on me that this is verging on being the longhair equivalent of starstruck  You know you're a longhair when ... !!

yep deciding i'm going to be lurking here and whatever length topic i'm in at the time. I did aim for floor but I know I'll be possibly setting myself up to being disappointed, so it is best for me to not have a set length goal and just use Terminal, no matter where terminal is, I do honestly hope it will be at least hip or longer by the time my hair stops growing

I'm (re)joining here again. I want to find out what my terminal length is and see what it is like! But I will likely cut it to a more manageable length. The longest I've been is tailbone and my hemline was pretty thick so I think I can make it to my soft goal of classic. It's nice to not have to worry about my hemline or "perfect" hair if my goal is to grow it to its max length! I don't really need to do anything. But of course I will be babying it and cutting any individual splits. I'm not trimming for the rest of the year and I think I will join the no trimming 2021 challenge when the time comes! I just want to enjoy my hair more than worrying about length or perfection.

Finally some company! My main goal is knee but after that I'll be aiming for terminal for sure but I'll stay here and whatever length I'm currently at, I'm banning myself from other length topics so when I graduate from a topic it is more satisfying, I'm going to join the 2021 challenge too but I will trim between challenges

Haha! I've been lurking here too. Definitely terminal is my eventual goal, but as I'm basically about as long as it's ever been at the moment at just past waist, I hesitate to fully jump in here.
I think I would be sad if this is it for me, though. Maybe I'll feel more confident after I graduate from my current goal topic of waist to tailbone.

You can always adjust your goal when you get to tailbone, yep, I'm just at bottom of neck I have a long way to go to terminal myself or knee which is my true final goal, any longer really is a bonus

I’m also tempted to grow to terminal. My ultimate goal is to reach classic, but until then, I’m taking each length milestone as an interim goal. Once I reach classic, I’ll evaluate whether to keep on growing to terminal, if it didn't happen sooner.

I've become really curious about what my terminal length is but I don't think I would ever be able to grow my hair that long. I already get migraines when my hair is placed in any non high placement bun. At the moment, my goal is grow until I have constant migraines and then cut it to the milestone before that.
That said, I really want to know.
How do people with legit long hair (aka, in my mind more than hip) deal with migraines?

:beerchug: Cheers Bat! I saw your posts here a few weeks ago before I decided to take the plunge. Knee is a lovely length! It's super long but much easier than say floor. I sometimes lurk in the length topics I haven't graduated into yet but I try to stay in the one I'm currently at. Terminal feels different though because everyone has a different terminal length and no one knows what theirs is until they try! Which is the exciting part to me!
Yesterday, I wrote down a 10 year no trim challenge, which I estimated would put me at floor length. Now I don't know if I will stick to it, but if I take care of my hair and S&D when necessary, I'm sure it's possible I could determine my terminal length. But that would mean my terminal length is shorter than floor length and my grow rate remains steady. If my terminal length is longer than floor, I highly doubt I will keep it that long because I would like to be able to wear my hair down on occasion. I think once you get to around ankle, it is probably very difficult to do so. I can imagine it would be hard to cut my hair when it is so long though!
Right now it's been 5+ months since my last trim. I have 9 years and 7 months to go! APL here I come!

Strange you should mention migraines. I’m at MBL and recently been suffering headaches and migraines that I haven’t had for years. The way I deal with them is to take painkillers if very bad, or wait and see if I think I can manage without. I do find brushing my hair with a BBB helps to relax the scalp and relieves the pain.

Pain pills. Sure, that works for some but my migraines make me vomit. I can't even keep down water when I'm having them. Unfortunately BBB aren't great for my hair unless I want a giant frizzy puff of hair. I have had some degree of luck with peppermint oil massages.
What I meant to ask was how people with hip + hair AVOID the migraines.

My hair is longer than hip and I'm prone to migraines. I don't tend to find that anything I do with my hair causes them but diet, stress levels, and hormone fluctuations are strongly correlated. When I have a migraine some hair styles cause increased discomfort so I tend to just braid my hair those days (or pin in a coronet braid if it must be up). I have a prescribed migraine specific pain blocker that makes me feel like garbage but makes the migraine last a quarter of the time. Migraines make me feel like vomiting no matter what and pain killers can make that worse so I sip water and try to nap if it's really bad. The only thing I can say is if you find certain hairstyles trigger migraines then those should be avoided and if you can't distribute the weight of long hair in a comfortable way that you like then keep your hair at the best length for you. Personally coronet braids feel more comfortable than buns on my scalp.

I guess thickness plays a part here. My hair is to the lower end of ii thickness, so I suspect any issues with this are a long way off for me. I do like the braid/coronet braid solution for helping with this issue though: those are amongst my favourite styles anyway.

a 10 year no trim seems like an Interesting challenge you can do it! I'm trimming jan 2021 after this 6 month one, then nothing until 2022 then I can see how my ends are looking, if they still look good by then I may try not to trim til 2025

When I was young and had quite thick hair, I couldn't avoid constant headaches once my hair reached knee. Perhaps try thinning a bit? But you'd have to keep doing that.

My ends are quite thin as compared to the rest of my hair. I like to wear it down when not at work so that is probably why. I argued with myself about keeping it up all the time to protect the ends as some folks do but.... I have it long to enjoy it and I enjoy it down; so down it stays except when inconvenient or I have to work.

Welcome, Stray_mind! I guess I have joined the club, since I keep reading and posting here. Haha! I agree with you, Bat, so exciting to see so many joining.
Thanks for the warm welcome you two. I hope my terminal is not far below TBL though because i can't imagine my messy self being able to deal with longer lengths

Ive never had hair longer than APL so I have no idea I'll be able to look after super long hair but one can try! I'm considering no more trims Indefinitely, and only trimming if I'm evening up layers so since my hair will be Frankenstein's Monster due to layers and side shave growing out

Been there. I grew out a *very* heavily layered chin length bob. My hair looked Awful until it reached around APL. I still have some layers at around APL level, but i will slowly trim those away.

I sometimes think I should maintain untill they catch up but my side shave is still just in 'buzzed' stage but sure it's about an inch now so that would be long wait to keep from growing maybe I might maintain at hip if I ever get there time will tell I guess!

Lurking back here as this topic has always caught my eye, so tentatively here again, there is just something satisfying about the word 'terminal, and since finding out my hair is coarse, it might be strong enough to get to a good terminal length who knows!
I'll still do my journey milestone by milestone but ultimately my goal is finding this out.

I'm in with the caveat that I'm currently growing as long as I can go whilst dyeing my hair. I know this inevitably causes damage, but I love being a redhead too much! My current dye routine is bleaching roots just the once, then using henna or vegetable dye. The rest gets refreshed with vegetable dye or henna glosses as needed. My hope is that this way I limit damage to just the initial lightening. In other ways my routine is pretty protective. Perhaps someday I'll try for my true terminal length, but for now let's see how long redheaded me can get. :)

I too would like to keep dying my hair while trying for terminal. I've even started a 10 year minimal trim challenge, just one or two trims just to even up layers during the whole thing, my next trim won't be until my shortest sides are shoulder and I have a year until that happens

I am still intrigued by this idea, sometimes put off by the idea of growing longer than floor and the question of how easy I shall find really long hair hard to handle. Of course, there is always the possibility that I shall find that terminal is not much longer than classic, or something!

Well you could always try and if you don't like it you can always cut it if it gets to floor! I want to get atleast hip length before hitting terminal, though making it to knee/floor would be an ultimate dream!

I wear mine up most of the time, but my hair prone to split ends so I still have to S&D a lot :p So a lot of S&D over the years combined with minimal trimming have made my ends thinner.
I have grabby ends and probably lots of splits. I haven't been doing much with it lately except to put it up for work and braiding for sleep. Otherwise it is just down.

May I also recommend Stargate (well, SG-1 and Atlantis, I haven't watched Universe myself) and if you like imaginative sci-fi, Farscape. Though it's only fair to warn you that both Stargates were cancelled mid-season though so the endings are not all that satisfying, though SG-1 had two films after the series so the most important loose ends were tied up. Farscape you need to have the Peacekeeper Wars ready to go at the end of the series too, as that was cancelled last-minute.
Incidentally, new-Who was directly influenced by Farscape; RTD have box sets to the team to watch because he wanted to have a similar feel!

You are so blessed to have reached classic during your childhood. At least you know you can get there. It definitely would be nice to see if you can get past classic.
I'm like you. I think my limit is if the ends start getting very very see through since I hate that look with straight hair too. I have an aunt and I had a 2nd cousin my dad's side of the family that had hair at classic length or a little bit past it but they both haven't had hair that long in 50something years! My aunt always keeps her hair cut short in a pixie style. :( That's what makes me so sad. Because, til' this day I've never seen her with classic length hair, and my mom often told me stories of both her and my cousin having hair that long in their lives. I'm like you, the longest my hair was as a child was almost hip length, and I want to see if I can go past hip length to much longer lengths. Like, ankle length.

I've had fun reading back over the topic mainly out of boredom, and I have more reasons to give it a go when I think about it no one in my family has had really long hair, maybe BSL at the longest, so it would be cool to be the only one in my family who grows hair super long.
I still won't be a pureist where I shun scissors and dye ( I wish I could do that!)
I want to Color/bleach my hair and get the occasional trim,
Maybe I'll make another quest in the choose your own adventure topic
Where I only trim my ends and touch up my roots when I get solidly past each milestone as a reward, it might possibly work for me who knows....
I still have my desire for floor length hair but be surprised if I can get there with bleaching/dye
This gives me more of a guide goal, over a specific length goal. If I can make it to knee with fuller ends then I'll probably aim for floor+ if I can handle it.

I always knew a couple of people on my dad's side of the family my mom always told me about who had hair down to a little past their butts. Which was my aunt and 2nd cousin. My mom always told me that my aunt's hair was very thick and long but my cousin's hair wasn't as thick as my aunt's hair nut it was still very long. It's soooo very sadden that by the time I was born they had chopped all of their hair off very short, and til' this day I've never seen them with their super long hair. :( So, we'll see if I'll be the one in the family with super long hair these days.

Thanks for sharing! There were some great photos on there... some of them quite spooky... in a good way.
Hmm...not convinced they're all women. Also, the short curly bangs and long hair mullets and otherworldly faces on a lot of them make me feel all stranger in a strange land.

I think I've decided to explore my terminal length. Might as well do it while I'm still relatively young and at maximum genetic potential, right?
There is one condition, however. I'm not willing to treat my hair extra carefully. There will be no antique lace principles when it comes to any product of my head. So what I'm going for, I guess, is something like "reasonable terminal"? For me, reasonable means I must be allowed to inflict some damage on it, because that's an important part of what makes hair enjoyable for me. That includes things like wearing it in potentially damaging styles (braids hanging down, loose, etc.), headbanging, frequent washing, and so on. I guess it also means a small trim here and there. So I'll never reach my absolute terminal length, and I'm okay with that!
It doesn't feel right to call that whatever that length is 'terminal', so for now, I've dared to set my goal at knee, because looking at the thickness of my ends now past classic, and considering their condition, I think I'll be able to make it at least to knee relatively okay.

Good luck, Ylva - I love the idea of a goal length as “metal”
Now you’re making me wonder about my goal length. Originally I was thinking classic, but now that I’m too lazy to trim to maintain it there, I’m wondering about fingertip. Maybe my actual goal length is “lazy”…does that equate to something like terminal?

Metal is such a great milestone :p I approve!
I'm not sure about my goal, it should be CL +, but it's more soemthing between "till I can still wear it down when I want" and "long enough to make me do consistent trims (3-4 inches) without regrets".

I feel the exact same way! I want to see how long it can grow in a healthy condition under benign neglect regime.

"Lazy" has pretty much always been my goal. For now I'm trying to reach Classic, but in reality I'll probably grow until it becomes more work that I want to put in. I'm already planning ahead for when my hair gets longer by stretching washes (I'm down to twice a month now, my goal is once a month). My idea is to put my hair in a crown braid or hair taping and take it down 1-2 times a week to detangle, and wash it once a month. Maybe just scalp washes monthly, if I can, and a full wash every 3 months.

I'm 38. I've done shaved head, super short, waist length, and everything in between.
Know what I've never done?
Terminal.
I'm going to grow until I can't grow any more. In theory, I could reach floor length by the time I'm 50, if my genetics and mathing cooperate. I want to be one of those bad a$$ hippie grannies. I already practice benign neglect. I don't use heat, bun daily (more out of convenience than anything else) and I take MSM, Viviscal, and drink oodles of water. Probably the only thing I don't really do that many recommend on here is trim regularly. I'm loathe to let any of my length go! Besides, my grandma started thinning at 60, so might as well do what I can before I have a larger risk of that. I'll probably keep hennaing for awhile, but I've had gray hairs since my early 20's and can see myself letting it go glorious gray as I get older too.

ooooh! I love the turn of conversation here. I'm not a metal but I am for sure a 'benign neglectee'. I could go with Metal as a benign neglect term for terminal with no special care.

Terminal length is my aim. I'm so curious how long my fine hair is able to grow. I predict just barely classic, with loooong fairytale ends. That would actually be pretty convenient, because if I take good care of it, maybe I don't ever have to get it trimmed? It'll just fall out or break off when ready!

I’m with you on that at least at my current length. My ends are abused by me. So my thinning is pretty much mechanical damage!

I'm aiming for terminal length, too. My last trim was in August 2019. A few racers are now past FTL. The last 20 - 25 cm are thinned out it's probably because of a shed in the past.
I had several sheds in the past due to stress, health issues and malnutrition. I really hope that some thickness will travel down in the future.
I don't have many split ends and do only a little s&d once or twice a year.
To minimize damage I wear my hair up 99% and try to be very gentle.
The first year without a cut was hard for me, now I don't think anymore about my hemline.
My dream goal was always, since my childhood, knee lenght hair. Now I'm 54 and maybe a few racers will make it to knee till the end of the year.
I don't measure my haire because I'm alone and it isn't important to me. I feel during a hair wash in the shower how long it is wet. :)

Epic = the most my own hair can be in the context of my life.
Officially jumping on the Terminal thread, with a quote that describes my philosophy perfectly. My hair is not the point of my life, but I'm curious to see how far it will go given the routine I've chosen and my enjoyment of wearing it down a good bit of the time.
Routine: daily mechanical-only cleansing/sebum-only conditioning (I spend most of my LHC-time on the NW/SO thread). Plan to S&D: anticipating one or two long sessions to begin with then 2-3 times a year maintenance sessions.
Length: I kept trimmed waist-/hip-length hair most of my life, kept in braids in childhood then buns in adulthood. Shortened to bra-strap length in late 20s/early 30s, cut to centimeters-short pixie mid-30s. Past waist again now at 40 (woot! 40 is a cool age). Definitely have taper-y ends. While my aesthetic side would love the thickness of even ends, I remember fighting with them in buns and updos. I'm at peace with my ends.
In-depth hair philosophy over at my blog.

I would probably maintain the hemline at knee (estimate spring of 2024) or ankle (2026?) for a while, then I’ll go for terminal, I hope my genes will take me behind the floor.
I am inspired by many long hair legends, one of them is Rin_Rapunzel who claims to have the longest hair in Japan, and apart from being a hair model, she is also a pole dancer, and I always pray for the floor to be spotless when she flings the long locks down lol :)

Joining this nice thread, I want to see how long my hair will grow. I've never tried to actively grow my hair past SL/APL in the past 10 years and I haven't had MBL since middle school when I basically only ever braided my hair. I'm excited to see new lengths on me, especially now that my hair is all natural - both color wise and natural shape wise. I've never seen my hair be healthy and curly and past my shoulders before so I'm really looking forward to what it will look like long.

I have now about 4 longest hairs, so I feel like I'm nearing terminal - or at least, 'terminal with pre-LHC neglect'. At this point though the distribution of different hair lengths looks reasonably convincing, so although I can't fully claim it will be my absolutely most true terminal length, it'll be close enough for me and I'm not hanging around down here for ten years to find out!
At the end of June is the end of the no-trimming challenge, and the point at which if my growth rate kept up I should have reached 72". I don't know if I'm gaining length still though, and I don't know whether I want to hold out for any longer than that. We'll see. But it is cool to know my terminal length is floor or beyond, which … never in a million dreams could I ever have imagined it was possible. My hair has astonished me, which is quite a nice thing to be able to say.

Wow floor and beyond! that’s quite a milestone! Even one hair counts! How long did it take you to go from tbl to floor? 5-6 years?
My ultimate goal is also either terminal or floor, for some reason I have a blind confidence in my genes that I will pass knee and calf with little to no difficulty lol.

It took about 6, 6½ years with some trims (including a couple of few-inch cuts) in between. I can't remember if it was 5, 6, or 7 trims, the years get muddled and I didn't do many of them on a schedule, I intended to after 2019 but the pandemic thwarted those plans.
I have no doubt you'll be able to grow very long! It will be fun to see your continued enjoyment as your hair grows ever longer.

I think I'm joining this for real ill allow Trims to get rid of layers until I can get to cbl with none, then I'll try and be scissor free indefinitely

Little update, I've reached floor but only 71" so far. I have had the occasional breakage which might explain why. I don't know how much longer I'll wait but I don't have urges to cut just yet.

What will you do when you decide to cut? Any ideas

The intention was to chop back to calf (maybe 60" because it's a nice round number, but not sure exactly where on calf that falls) but my ends aren't frustrating me as much as I anticipated. So maybe back to 70" or even ankle, and see what happens when those ends grow a bit more. I don't know  though I AM surprised I'm even considering anything other than just chopping back to calf because I was so sure for so long that that was what I wanted to do. Maybe some lingering LHC-itis still

Aw thank you :o :flower: no you haven't missed anything, I was hoping to post pics with calling it and catch up on the thread at the same time, and that hasn't happened yet - though I need to use my laptop for something else this evening and LHCing is always easier on that, so maybe I will get to soon

Musical Spoons, that is so awesome that you are at floor. I got to midcalf and then lower calf but am at least 7-8 inches from floor. I DO want to see your hair!!!!! Please take at least one pic

It's really nothing spectacular but here are a couple of anticlimactic pics, cross-posting from the Knee+ thread (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=54031&p=3996558#post3996558):
Mini album https://imgur.com/a/62ooQAl
and a random style I did (then wrapped the length around) because I didn't want to lose the fluffiness at the top before putting it up properly for going out that day https://imgur.com/4JThIzh (It looks a bit weird because I'm kneeling on a deflated airbed, as that's the only way I managed to get it in decent focus with all my hair in the shot.)
Length pic (oily up top, as it always is by the time my hair has calmed down enough to be thoroughly combed)

Seasonal length shot, with the tantalising longest bits continuing to defy gravity

At least it looks floor length from seated and standing height for anyone else so I don't feel too impostery calling it outside LHC either. Just it's very much not what people imagine when you say 'floor-length hair', or most of the hair you see on e.g. Instagram. But, it's mine and it is what it is

I´ve read quite a few of older threads on the forum and/or older posts from 2009 and so on, and I noticed that a lot of people - I will say many if not the most of newbies - declared they wanted to grow to terminal. It´s tempting and inspiring, when you come and spend time at LHC, but how many people do you think actually ever achieved their terminal? My guess is... very few.
I was, of course, no exemption, but I´ve come to realize lately that terminal for me will not be anything too long... Based on taper my terminal might come even before classic. And if it grows past that, I don´t think I would let it beyond knee... What I mean is, most people probably imagined their terminal at floor with fabulously thick hemline. And that´s just not how it goes for most.

I'm worried about that too having a terminal shorter than hip, but let's face it I have trouble even getting out of the awkward stages of buzz to shoulder let alone aim for terminal

I dunno, I'd say it's morally neutral. Just a choice/desire, no good or bad about it.

My oinion. If you want long hair, it is good to have long hair on your own head. If you want short hair, it's good to have short hair on your own head.

I am kind of confused because I thought the 'no end goal' thread would be about terminal length as a goal.
Anyways- basically I would like to see if hip-thigh was as long as my hair gets, or if it can get longer. It was very thin when it was at that point, so I also wouldn't mind seeing if it can be thicker (maybe more babying?). Now my hair has broken off and fallen out to waist length, alas, so it will take awhile. I have always wanted to have reeeally long hair (partly so I can choose what to do with it; who knows if I would like the care at that point?), but it's just delicate and not altogether that thick, either.

The no end goal means no goal at all even Terminal it's where people who don't know how long they want until they get there post.
Your hair might just be the type that needs frequent mini trims to keep it fresh, I recommend getting a silk pillowcase

Ahh- yeah, I definitely would like to find my terminal length. ^.^ So as not to disappoint, I'm assuming it's no longer than thigh...
I have been using a square silk scarf over my pillow (got it because I thought I could bear wearing scarves to bed, apparently not). If I have money I may get a pillowcase instead as that is a lot easier (having to re-fold the scarf over the pillow is getting old).

If you already have the scarf and this is the only thing you're using it for perhaps just sew it to the top of your existing pillowcase. That aside, if you're going to purchase something, I have found a bonnet way more helpful than the pillowcase. Hair goes off of the pillow, so it ends up in the sheets, blankets, between your body and those things, etc. Additionally, I was already using a silk pillowcase and the introduction of a bonnet resulted in better hydration and less tangles for me. If you use a sleep style, bonnets let you have your hair "down" with less of the weight (in my opinion at least) and still protected.

Maybe you can try sewing some clasps/buttons/elastic ties on the corners of the pillow to make it stay in place.
I know my ultimate goal is to see whether my genes would allow me to grow beyond the floor. In a way that’s definitely my terminal because I’d probably maintain it at ankle or floor for an easier life.

Last Aug, I had a day of non humidity and measured my hair at 49 inches. After that, I don't know where my length went to? As of two days ago my hair measured in at 44 inches! What happened, I will never know. I do know that my hair got passed 48 inches!

Maybe shrinkage if your hair is wavy/curly?
