Today is my first S&D. I do not see ant "split" ends but i keep seeing all these little bent hairs. When i pull on the bent part the hair snaps off with little to no effort. What are these and am i doing right by cutting them off?

I would like to also add that the only new thing i have been doing to my hair every day is BBB. Could i have made the weak parts of my hair weaker by doing this?

I cut them off when I see them.

I have always considered them a type of split end, and cut them off. I think they're just broken ends, and causes by the same things that cause splits.

I think that's the step before the hair splits. I usually cut them off a little further up from where the split is.

oh okay thank you all for your answers:) I just had a two inch trim about two weeks ago and my new ends already have the bent ends, so i'm going to have to reevaluate what I'm doing wrong.
My hair always seems to be dry although i oil it all the time. I am starting to think either BBB or cotton pillowcase.

They are just a different breed of split ends, I get these and cut them off. Even a great hair cut will not get rid of them all, as splits can be further up.

try not to worry about them, there normal!

It is just breakage.

Not all breakage turns into split ends. Mine do not. The breakage and splits are caused by dryness mostly but can also be caused by rough handling of your hair.

Improper brushing (brushing hair when wet, or brushing without detangling first) can cause both too.

It is best to trim just above the break.
