So I put henna in my hair yesterday for the first time ever. It seemed like a good idea because I would like to have my natural hair colour back and I'm tired of destroying my hair with chemical dyes. I used Caca Brun from Lush and it basically just brought my hair back to my natural colour, which I am so pleased with.

However, the permanence of henna makes me nervous.. the permanence of anything really

So.. remind me of the benefits of henna so I don't end up regretting my decision to go natural!!

The shine. The softness. The strengthening effects.

I don't lush hair color is permanent for most people - there are other ingredients in there (cocoa butter etc) that make it more like a gloss, from what others have posted. And the indigo may fade before the henna.

But it still has conditioning benefits!

You can also get conditioning benefits from cassia if you don't want to change your colour. No reason to change if you don't like the colour! I recently tried a schwarzcopf live 8wash red just to see if I liked red on me first before I took the plunge. I liked it. (It does last longer than 8washes btw) & now Im going gradually red with henna.
