I used coconut oil unrefined one for a change, and i could see the same frizz back which i used to have earlier when i was using it. Have anyone had similar experience with it. For few years i was not aware that coconut oil was causing it, recently after my shift to dabur amla i got to know the difference.

Coconut oil makes my hair crunchy and frizzy too. I only use it as a pre poo. I believe the reason is because the oil prevent protien loss. Overtime it causes the protein to build up. This build up causes the hair frizzy. I would suggest using a clarifying shampoo and switching to a different oil for a while. Olive oil always brings back the softness to the hair for me.

Thank you ... even i applied coconut oil as pre poo, and ended up with frizz after wash. I tried olive oil once and the results were good without frizz.

They did here, http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=88175 - ETA: OOOps - I forgot that was started by you too and took a different direction.

I believe for the same reason, the mineral oil.

If used on conditioneed hair, the coconut oil is not penetrating hair. It is a great oil used other ways.

Mineral oil can help prevent frizz and help moisturize hair much better.

Coconut oil used to make my hair crunchy and frizzy, but once I started hennaing it decided to like it

It is not that coconut oil causes hair to frizz. Vegetable oils and silicone are not as effective at helping to prevent frizz or moisturize hair as mineral oil for example.

Coconut also makes my hair look dry, frizzy, and puffy after washing. I've tried it twice now once leaving it in for only one hour and the other time for a whole day. I may try applying a small amount on wet hair and see how that goes next. But, it may just be a wash. The best for my hair so far has been EVOO mixed with about 1 TBSN honey applied generously and left overnight.

This is exactly what coconut oil does to my hair dry, frizzy, puffy :( but i had good results with olive oil only pain is i need to apply shampoo twice to get it out. But the results are great shinny, non frizzy and non puffy hair. And i dont think i can get olive oil out of my hair using shikakai :(

Mineral oil/baby oil drops can moisturize hair and help prevent frizz better than vegetable oils, requires much less to be used to get results and can be washed out of hair very easily, when used in small amounts. It may be worth a shot for you.

I put just a teensy bit on my damp ends after washing.. it used to make my hair smooth but stringy, but then it would be nice and not boofy if I brushed through it. I'm still unecided on coconut oil..
