Diluting essential oils

Do essential oils have to be diluted in a carrier oil, or can they just be diluted in water?

You can do both I believe. Just never use them pure because they could burn your skin.

I prefer to use a carrier oil.

I make hair mists with distilled water, EOs and a few drops of 100% argan oil.

It depends on what you are using the mixture for, I suppose. However, like rock007junkie said - as a general rule, always dilute them with something. Certain ones can be used straight for certain things, but until you are 100% sure of what they are and their uses....dilute them.
