I have shoulder length hair and it takes me 2 1/2 hrs. for my hair to dry.

jenna

i can wash it in the afternoon and it's still wet the next day.

Chromis
July 22nd, 2008, 11:18 AM
Forever. It used to take a couple hours, but then I moved to a more humid climate and the difference is astonishing! I hate doing anything to it while it is wet so it's now a bit of a hassle and I land up stretching washes just to avoid all the drying time.

If I leave it down and am moving about 1-2 hours. Longer if I'm being lazy. If it's put up in a tight hairdo then it remains damp all day.

1-2 hours when loose. In a bun it will take forever and a day.

Islandgrrl
July 22nd, 2008, 03:12 PM
Depends. If I let it loose, it's usually dry in about 3 hours. If it's up, it could be a day or two.

Elanor
July 23rd, 2008, 01:53 AM
It usually takes 2-3 hours when loose, but if I put it up it stays damp more than 24 hours.

It used to actually take longer when my hair was less healthy and more dried out (like ~3-4 hours) but now it takes about 2 hours to dry when loose. However, if I put it up while it's wet, I've discovered that my hair's still damp when I take it down a day later.

Ohio Sky

FOREVER.

If I shampoo only, or use a no cone conditioner, my hair dries very quickly, usually within an hour and a half or so.

If I use cones... up to 4 hours.

That's assuming I can stand leaving it down for that long. I usually end up damp bunning it and then it takes a day or more.

Marcipangris

About 1-2 hours when I wear it down.

CurlyNinja
July 23rd, 2008, 03:28 PM
About 2 hours down, and all day when it's bound in any way.

Hatsumomo

Anywhere between a morning or the whole day. Depends what I'm doing really.

Right now my hair, when wet, is a bit past tailbone. It takes about 3-4 hours to dry with my microfiber towel helping it along. I shudder to think how long it would take without it. Probably 8 hours? At least 6 hours, I'm sure, because that's almost how long it took before I got my Curlease towel. :scared:

tiny_teesha
July 24th, 2008, 02:05 AM
usually 3 hours

July 24th, 2008, 04:25 AM
When loose and wandering about after a morning shower, it will still be damp well into that night. My hair from the ears to the nape of the neck just does not dry well under the rest of my hair. Whatever hair is covered, even by other hair, will take awhile. My boyfriend got cranky with me once because he came to pick me up at 2pm and I took a shower at 9am. The ends were so wet, he thought I had slacked off and just got out of the shower.

If I wear it up at all anytime during the drying process, it takes longer, of course. Usually the next day sometime it will be ok.

It seems to take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours when I S&C. If I just do a water wash, it dries really fast (about 1 hour).

July 27th, 2008, 02:12 PM
Probably 3ish hours, if it's down for the whole time and I fluff it. I haven't measured for how long it takes when it's up, but forever is a good estimate.

RavennaNight
July 29th, 2008, 07:36 PM
It depends. If I sit inside with a wet head, it will take 2 hours-ish. But now, in the summer, if I sit outside while it dries, its faster. Hop into a hot stuffy car with a wet head and its dry by the time I drive 1.5 miles to work. Really.

The dyed part less than an hour. The virgin part nearly four hours.

Mine takes considerably longer when I put a drop or two of oil in.

I usually sits in front of a fan to blow dry my hair. Takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. I usually just tie my hair into a ponytail (not while it's wet, just still a bit damp). Then it will take at least some 3 or 4 hours to dry completely.

It's about shoulder length and maybe like 1-2 hours for fully dry

Angellen

For me, about 5 hours. If I put it up, it won't dry. Simple as that. ;)

About 6-8 hours. My hair just likes staying damp. If I put it up it will stay wet where the band/elastic thing is.

When it's down, about 1 hour or a little less. When I put it up, a whole day and a bit.

About 3-4 hours when put down. My hair takes longer to dry when I used a deep treatment- kind of weird

I honestly don't know how long it takes for my hair to dry. I put it up soon after I wash it so that it doesn't get everything wet and it's always at least a little damp when I take it down. Because of variations in when I put it up, when I let it down, how I handle it, and so on, my hair could be dry in 3 or 4 hours or it could be dry in a couple days.

A day and a half. If it's hot I don't mind! In the winter it's a pain...

Oh, willowcandra, I'll give you a tip on why the virgin hair takes longer to dry and the dyed part less. I find that on my hair, the tips, well some of them, that are still heat damaged take the shortest time to dry, and the no hennaed, non damaged sections of my hair take FOREVER!

Healthy hair (for me) retains water. If you hair is damaged and the bonds in it are broken, then it doesn't retain water as easily, which is why you need to use more moisturizer on them to keep them from being damaged further. I hope that makes sense!

i end up putting it up so is usually still damp the next day, but when it is down about 3 hours

ChatoyantLocks
August 3rd, 2008, 11:49 PM
In the summer when it is humid it takes aprox. 8 hours to dry (hanging loose - otherwise it is not going to dry anytime in the immediate future). It takes less time in the winter.

I've never timed it, but when down probably at least 3 or 4 hours. If it's braided I think it can take more than a day. Bleh. I visited a friend in a very dry climate and it was totally dry in a couple of hours, it was great. I don't like having wet hair. Thank goodness I'm not washing it every day! My head would never be dry.

Paniscus

I've never actually timed it, but if I braid it or put it up wet, it will still be wet the next day. If it's down and wet, I'd guess 6 hours or so :) One of my daughter's friends who has tailbone length hair, left our house with wet hair. She said it would dry quickly. Boy howdy, did it! It was dried by the time we were finished with breakfast! I never knew some people's hair could dry that fast!

I put them in a towel for one hour and then I keep it loose, I need to wait another 2 hours to dry.

TatsuOni

Six hours if I keep on carefully separating the clumped strands while airdrying. If I sleep with it wet or put it up it simply won't dry.

It's been like this since APL so at least it haven't gotten any worse with lenght

8+H when left to its own devices. I t-shirt dry for 30-45 min., then airdry for 2-4H, and then quick diffuse for about 5 min. which makes my roots dry, but the very ends slightly damp.

About 2 to 3 hours for my fine thin hair.

animetor7

About 4-5 hours easily, sometimes longer. Hair washing and drying is an all day affair for me, so I only do a full wash once a week.

Groovy Granny

2-3 hours depending on humidity

My ends dry very quickly....right out of the towel, but my scalp in the back takes much longer.
That is where the remainder of my medium/darker hair is.
My silver is very fine and dries very quickly.

1hour or a bit less. I just squeeze my strands and let it air dry. I do not need a turbie-towel

SL, severely damaged (beyond imagination, it's so damaged I don't even know how it's intact), 6 hours to dry completely. Will report back on this thread after growing out damage.

Mine can take more than 48 hours to fully dry if it's in curlers. But if I use a hair dryer, microfiber towel, and the whole works, it can dry in less than six. That's all depending on the weather, of course!

I have shoulder length hair and it takes about an hour to dry. When I had mid back length, it took 3+ hours to dry.

Depends. Outside in a hot dry summer breeze, less than 45 minutes. Humid or indoors, 3+ hours. Winter, all day.

I wash mine at night and it's still damp at 3pm the next day. However, this is if I keep it up in a bun the whole time.

Down, it will dry usually by noon the next day

If I let it dry overnight, it'll take about 12 hours. If I wash in the morning (which I never do), then it'll take around 8 hours. I can take it down to maybe 5 hours if I'm outside in the wind, but then I'll have to detangle much more.

Mine is hip length/BCL and very fine. I wash mine at night, and it's usually still damp in the morning. Low porosity/no cones.

Where I previously lived the climate was balanced so it took one day a bit less perhaps. Where I live now which is dry all year round I damp bun so it takes me 2 days but if I dared to air dry with it loose with all this devilish weather sucking my moisture like crazy it would take a few hours only.

1 hour in the sun or hot car; up to 4 hours indoors.

About an hour ad a half if I leave it down, but I usually need to do some work and can't stand it hanging, shedding hairs and being in the way. so up it goes. It can still be damp hours later. I have made of plastic sticks and forks so bunning is not a problem.

I'm at almost hip length and if my hair is loose it'll dry in maybe 1-2 hours, longer if it's more humid. Sometimes I'll braid my hair when it's wet and that'll stay damp for the entire day. Normally I wash my hair at night and then sleep on it.

November 22nd, 2016, 12:33 PM
It takes around 4h to air dry my hair, although it depends on the leave-in I am using and the amount.

SammiV
November 29th, 2016, 01:34 PM
It used to take all day - the next day if I put it up a little damp. (It's humid here!) Now, it's about 2.5 - 3 hours to dry if I just leave it down. My hair is a lot thinner than it used to be.

In hottest summer it can dry in less than an hour from dripping wet if I leave it out. In the tropics it'll dry in that time even when it's in one or two plaits/braids. In winter it'll take up to 5 hours to dry if left out but I don't do that. I'll put it in a t-shirt for a few minutes then let it dry in the 6-14 plaits I washed it in. This can take 5-7 hours. I've even had as many as 20 plaits a few times. If I put it in 1 or 2 plaits it will take over 12 hours to dry. If I put the hair in a bun or a braided bun it will take up to 48 hours to dry so I avoid that.
