[Please let me know if this already exists, otherwise...]

I've noticed there are 'Show me your...' threads dedicated to showcasing hair coloured with henna, henndigo and cassia but I haven't been able to find an official place for people to post pics of their direct-deposit-dyed hair.

There's a very informative thread on direct deposit dyes here: Hair dye without damage (not natural either) (http://www.longhaircommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72129).

I also love the Show me your Crazy Coloured Hair!!! (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=86337) thread but not all of us who use DDD's are aiming for crazy colours so some of us don't quite belong there. All crazy colours are welcome here of course!

I've noticed quite a few LHC members getting awesome results with these types of dyes. If this sounds like you, please show us your DDD'ed hair! :)

Feel free to include your method, tips, suggestions, failures, likes, dislikes, ... whatever.

I *do* have crazy colors, but I'm going to show it off, anyway ;-)

Most recent to oldest (but just the last 6 months - hey, that stuff fades.)

As for tips - My hair is naturally dark. There *is* bleach under those brighter colors, but I really, really like the gloss of color I get on my natural hair, too. Plus, they feel really fantastic. Oh and leaving it on longer than called for (overnight) and rinsing with cold water and using some vinegar really helps the lasting power, too. As, of course, does not washing frequently.

BeckyAH, I love your hair and its colours!

This is turned out to be something between crazy and not so crazy. This is La Riche Directions Rose Red over (unbleached) medium brown hair with lots of henna layers/applications. I left it in for 1 1/2 hours and didn't expected such a huge change, only a slight dark pink hint in sunlight.

It was fun, but my virgin roots turned out purplish, not a good color for me (uber pale skin with warm/yellow undertones). I still have some left and am thinking about doing a dip dye, only the last 3-4 inches, I loved the dark pink but whole head of hair of it was a bit overwhelming for me. I loved loved loved the conditioning it gave, if they sold it colorless, I would buy it as a DT :inlove:

At first I just had a portion of my hair dyed with this color, I ended up loving it so much that I used it all over :D

This is my dip dye, in terrible lighting! I kept fiddling with it after I dyed it though, and now it's hennaed. I'm sure I'll do another funky colored dip dye someday--I really loved it!

I actually thought this thread was something about daughters... err... I had to click in and find out what all the extra D's were all about. "Dearest... darling..?.. daughter..?? huh??!"

Very beautiful pinky red there, eshta! Love how natural yet... unnatural it looks? :p

This is definitely one of my favourite colours to have. Rose Red by Punky Color, I think it is. It lasts for a really long time too!

Thanks Sammich

Gracenotes, I love your dip dye.

Love all the colors and pics, this thread really makes me itch to grab my tub and run to the shower.

I would like to try out a turquoise, dark green or teal too, but I'm afraid that won't show up or turn muddy (I'm not willing to bleach).

Ahh, I miss the days of the purple and green hair. I would consider doing it again, only this time I'd not do my whole head, just maybe dip dye the ends or something. The purple looked pretty cool over my red.

I love all these colours... thanks for sharing! I really wish I could get some dramatic colours in my hair but it's so dark and I don't want to bleach (it's very fine and wouldn't stand up to the damage). I tried La Riche Directions for the first time yesterday. Dark tulip. Indoors my hair just looks even darker and it's hard to detect the tulip colour, but I managed to get some cool photos in the late afternoon sunlight today...

The individual photos are in an album (along with a couple of others including one that shows how dark it looks inside). Shame that no-one else will notice this colour unless the sunlight shines on me at precisely the right angle.

I have chemically dyed hair with streaks of directions rose red and alpine green - some photos of it are in my albums.

Ok girls, I want to do something......I would consider streaks or a dip dye. thing is my hair is really rather dark. for those that use the dip dye technique - what is the best way to do it?

I've decided to do a few streaks of green and purple in my hair, with bleaching them first. If I don't like it, the color will eventually wash out and i'll be left with some highlights, nbd. :D

Now, how do I manage this? lol

Dyed my hair with directions dye in a mixture of tulip and rubine. It turned out a pretty dark burgundy colour over my hennaed hair. I'm going to take some pictures once I've had a chance to wash my hair again and get rid of some of the dye on my scalp as it's currently the hottest shade of pink known to mankind.

Does anyone who has used directions dye know how to make the process less messy? I ended up with dye the entire way up my arms and I dyed my shower pink when I was rinsing it out. It's been a long time since I've used something other than henna in my hair and my hair was a lot shorter last time I did so I'm not sure if it's the dye or my longer hair that's the problem.

On another note, my fingernails are now faintly pink too. Does anyone know how to fix that?

Sorry, never done the bleach/dip dye thing so can't help. Did you end up trying this?

I'm in a similar boat to you. Hennaed hair and tried Directions (in dark tulip) for the first time. My fingernails went pinkish but that wore off after a few days of hand washing. The more annoying thing for me was the bright pink scalp!! I thought this was so obvious and it didn't go away for about 5 or 6 washes for me. I CO every other day. If I ever use Directions (or similar) again I'll be very careful not to get it on my skin, anywhere! Have Rubine in the cupboard & will try when feeling game. As for the shower... I have one of those removable nozzle things on a flexible arm so rinsed my hair very gently near the drain for the first few minutes before standing in the shower and rinsing properly. This kept my shower pretty clean.

I washed my Directions dark tulip out under the hose outside - bbrrrrr!! Nice clean bathroom, didn't help with the neon pink scalp, ears, neck etc tho! :D

Do it anyway. Last I checked teachers don't have to adhere to crazy conservative appearance rules, check with your union.

On my 7 year old, I braid her hair canopy to bottom of her shoulder blades then soak the tassel in color and bag it overnight. Rest of her hair, I put in a few pig tails and soak the tails and bag those.

Her pig tailed color doesn't show but for the damage. Right now that's a Manic Panic pink. Her tassel shows more, but much more on damage. She's naturally a 3 neutral to ash.
