Hello Ladies,

I would like to regularly oil my scalp with indian oils.
From what I have learned here, the most used/recommended are :
vatika
Kama Neelibringradi
Neelibhringadi oil
Pure Maka’s Mahabhringraj Oil
Ramtirth Brahmi Oil
Nutrich oil
and Dhtathri ( recently discovered a post on LHC )

Besides of Dabur Vatika, which is less powerful as the others, mainly every good oil including eclipta alba and specific herbs benefit to the hair growth and scalp stimulation contains indigo.
I have light dyed hair. Even if the amount of indigo in those oils is not enough to be considered as a dye, on my already bleached and light hair will probably leave a dark stain.

I wanted to try kama because it has been received with such great reviews, but, again, as with all the other oils, I am afraid it will darken my hair, or leave darker shades.

Do you have any recommandation of similar oils which do not contain indigo ?

I use Auromere pre-shampoo oil which doesn't have indigo.

These are the ingredients:

Ingredients: Sesame Oil, Coconut Oil, Ginger Lily Oil, Khus Khus Oil, Nutgrass Oil, Wheatgerm Oil, Neem, Brahmi (Indian Pennywort), Castor leaf, Bhringaraj (Eclipta Alba) and Tulsi (Holy Basil).

Have you tried making the oils yourself? I think it's way cheaper that way. Back when I was in India my mom used to make herbals oils. We never buy store bought products. This way you can control what you want to put in the oil. I found this recipie for neelibringadi oil online http://www.livestrong.com/article/273866-how-to-prepare-herbal-hair-oil-of-kerala-at-home/
I am going home next wee and I will be trying to make the oil with my mom.

As much as I would love to do this, as I already do natural treatments to my hair, this one is at this time not possible for me. Too difficult+time+no kitchen utilities available.
But thank you for the link, I have saved it and will use it when I will make oils by my self.

No it is this oil:

http://www.auromere.com/Hair_Care-Ayurvedic_Conditioner.html

They call it pre-shampoo conditioner but it is really an oil.

I have the massage oil too and find it sort of drying on my skin but it sure smells great! The hair oil lasts a really long time! You get 7 ounces and I think I have had mine over a year already and I oil my scalp and my hair lightly before almost every wash. And I have also done several heavy oilings with it too.

What I do is put some in an empty essential oil bottle and just dispense a few drops at a time.

If you are in the US (don't know if they ship to other countries for this price) has it the cheapest I've found and has a $4.99 shipping fee.

http://www.vitacost.com/Auromere-Pre-Shampoo-Conditioner has it the cheapest I've found and has a $4.99 shipping fee.

eta: their tulsi neem soap is also great for hair washing!!! smells wonderful too!

That`s the thing, I am in EU/Germany. I was looking for this brand maybe in the UK, or at least in Europe, but can`t find anything.

ahhh well good luck! I think I have read that some people from somewhere in europe have used this oil too but I don't know where they bought it. At least you know it's name!!! I am pretty sure vitacost ships there but don't know the cost - because I have seen reviews from people from other countries.

oh - www.iherb.com definitely ships overseas - i see reviews from people from other countries all the time on there.

I appreciate your answer. I will keep looking. I hope to find a supplier. But, at least in Germany, people do not take interest in those kind of things. Same problem goes with cone free conditioners, sls free shampoo, etc...

I've been using the Ramith Brahmi oil for a few months now and I haven't noticed any darkening... I didn't know it had indigo!

I also use the Auromere one ratgirldjh posted and I like that one (no darkening with that one either) I order mines from iherb. you can use coupon code ECI175 for $8 off till March 31st if you are a new customer or use a new email address so if you order the oil it would be free and you'd just pay shipping. (hope it's ok to post this, just trying to help!)

and I've been using the Vatika oil for around 5 years now..not sure if it's done much but it smells nice!

I couldn`t find that brand of oil in Europe. Thank you for the info on the coupon, but if I buy anything form US and it`s more than 22 Euros, I will have to pay import taxes...
They all have indigo except Dabur Vatika. At least the ones I have found. In a way logical - indian women have dark hair.

Dabur vatika has henna in it which may give your hair reddish tones. I know when I personally use it the red becomes much more noticeable in my hair ( my hair is previously henna-ed).

I already used dabut vatika and I was looking for something more powerful like kama bringhadi.
All other oils who have a higher concentration on herbs infusion have indigo. At least the ones mentioned on my first post.
I wouldn`t want to pay so much money ( for ex for kama intensive treatment oil ) and after one usage notice that the hair is darker.
I actually try to keep my light orange/cooper hair color lighter.
It happend with herbs washing last year. My hair got darker, because it was bleached at a very high concentration and probably porous. It became drier and darker. I must admit though it was the first time using herbs for washing, so I might have just used to much shikakai, or something for cleansing.

There is also Ramkrishna MahaBringaraj Hair Oil . This too has lots of great herbs in it. I have heard great stuff about it. Also it doesn't have indigo.

I used Kama Neelibhringdi on my white hair for years with no staining. They remained pure white and I used to let the stuff soak on my head overnight.

I think you should try some on shed hair and see the effects. If it does not darken your hair then you are missing out on a great oil.

If you are in mainland U.K, I can send you a small bottle of Kama Neelibhringadi to try out without you spending any money. PM me if you are a U.K dweller.

That`s so kind of you ( :cheer: ), but unfortunately I live in Germany.
I guess I will have to go with the long shot and buy on my next herb order, a full kama bootle.
