Last week's messy bun

Messy buns aren't among my usual hairstyles, but I really like the look, so last week I decided to do one with bandanna-curled ends and some braidwaves, after this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjenl...ure=plpp_video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjenlUoY4QE&list=LLlcwa5MHZ2_ay1c_oEbsFPA&index=28&feature=plpp_video) (it's in Spanish).
The messy bun I ended up with is not 100% like the one in the video, I didn't remember it that well when I attempted it...I did a couple of things differently. I left the out-of-the-bun ends at the right side instead of in the middle of the bun... But it's close enough, and I think I like it better the way it turned out to be.
I of course didn't tease or heat-style, as it's done in the video. I used a lot of bobby pins, some great ones that have never hurt my hair, a metal-free elastic and a swirly barrette-like little clip to decorate.


So here are some pics. Incidentally, my hair (very unfortunately) is only this coppery under full sunlight. I made some pics in the same room, at the same time, but away from direct sunlight, and my hair-colour was positively dark...like dark-brown, even (the same as my signature pic vs my avatar). My hair confuses me :D!

(this is indoors with flash and no direct sunlight, it looks more burgundy than coppery. Indoors without flash yields very dark-looking hair!).

Thanks :). Yes, I have henna'ed twice, although it has been more than a year since my last henna'ing, and the henna I used has faded a lot (stale herbal shop henna :rolleyes:, not BAQ henna). I plan on trying a mix of Jamila and cassia soon!

Some black cats also turn coppery in the sun, so you're not alone. I like your bun. It looks very complicated!

It's really not as complicated as it looks - You separate your front hair before the ears, at both sides and tie the rest into a low ponytail. Then you make a bun with the ponytail hair, leaving the ends out of the bun at the left/right/centre, and secure with bobby pins and/or clips. The remaining hair at both sides is separated into smaller strands, twisted and wrapped round the bun.
