I have seborrheic dermatitis and use medicated shampoo every other wash, it really helps. Lately though, my scalp has been really congested and itchy. I got a recipe for a scalp scrub off the internet and did it last night. Fantastic! I will be doing this again. It got rid of alot of the built-up sebum that has been bothering me lately. I recently switched my regular shampoo and I don't think the new one works for me, the scrub helped me get back to normal. It takes 2 Tablespoon of oatmeal, ground up fine (I used my Magic Bullet), 2 Tablespoons brown sugar, and 2 Tablespoons conditioner. Mix it all up and massage into dry scalp, then shampoo and condition as normal. As a warning, it did leave little particles in my hair, but they came right out after it dried.

Do you think it would come out with CO?

I don't know, having never done that. Hopefully someone else will weigh in. I would think that it would, but am not at all sure.

Thank you for this recipe, my scalp has been acting up lately due to the cold weather and this sounds like just the right thing for me to try. At least I have all the ingredients in my pantry and it won't cost me anything extra. So even if it doesn't work for me I'm not out any cash.

ladyfey I'm wondering if skipping the oatmeal and just using the brown sugar and conditioner, would eliminate having small particles afterwards. The oatmeal probably has some benefit for the scalp though.

I vaguely remember oatmeal having anti-inflammatory properties, though I could be wrong...

yeah, I wanted the oatmeal's help with the itchies. The particles came out no problem when it dried, so It was no big deal for me.
