Is The Gibson Tuck a protective hairstyle? It is my favorite way to wear my hair because your hair does not need to be really long to do it:)

Yes, provided you don't do it every day (because of the ponytail band requirement).

Also, be sure your hair has been fully detangled before beginning.

Yes, I think so, as long as you don't use a damaging ponytail holder.

I have occasionally put a hair stick in mine to make it more secure. I put the stick through both sides of the roll where the tuck is, then twist around and push it through.
