I've seen this picture:

around the internet many times now. It seems like just 3 french braids, but I'm a newbie and can't quite tell. I tried searching to see if anyone on here has already asked this question about this picture but I can't find anything. If there is I'd love to know. Thanks.

It does look like 3 french braids done loosely with a zig-zag part. I think the braid in the bun was pulled a little bit after it was fastened to get it to look kind of soft and stylishly messy.

It appears to be 3 French "English" braids.

That "fat" effect is achieved by gently pulling out each section..just a trifle, to make it look larger.

Initially, you'd have to braid your hair semi-loosely so you'd have enough "give" to pull on each section to widen it.

The side braids might be French "lace" style braids.
