So I ran out of lemons and limes, and the only thing I can think of is to mix my henna with herbal tea- is tea less acidy than lemon/limes? please let me know if there are other ideas, just trying to save myself a trip to the grocery store and it is a pain to juice like 4 limes to get enough lol

Tea is less acidic than lemons or limes, but a ton of people use that instead of citrus fruits BECAUSE its less acidic/drying and they get great results. I know some people use only warm water. The dye release might take a little longer, but should work just as well for you! :)

Most of us have found that we don't need to use acidic mixes for henna for good results. Heck, I found that my hair and scalp get really dried out when I used lemon juice in my henna. So the majority of folks around here use warm water or tea. Chamomile tea seems quite popular. If you want acid, just use a little bit and the rest water instead of an all-lemon and lime mix.
If you really feel you must add acid, then wine, vinegar, and fruit juices like orange juice and apple juice will also be quite acidic. More so than tea.

I agree with Anje- I found the acidic mixes with henna too drying. Try it without! :)

I have never used anything really acidic like lemon juice. I just use chamomille tea and other herbal teas and i get great results.

oh thats prob why my ends get really bad after I henna, even tho I just do the roots its so messy it gets a little bit on the length too- well thats good news I got the jamila henna this time and the quality is 2.6 before I was using the light mountain (it did a good job but the acid helped it I thought to stay in longer) okay so I have a lot of hebal tea so I guess I will put a few ounces with the warm water and mix it up :) thank you!

I mix mine with green tea and apple cider vinegar, it works very well and the acv is good for your hair and scalp.

I use bottled lemon juice so I don't have to squeeze fresh. I keep a big bottle in the fridge.

I used chamomile tea exclusively when I mixed my henna. Just brewed a few cups of strong tea and poured it into the powder straight from the steeping pot.

I use herbal berry tea and hibiscus powder. I always get a deep stain and very fast dye release. :)

Ive used chamomile tea mostly(brewed with RODI water), sometimes a splash of lemon. My last mix I used warm tap water and a splash of orange juice. I have not noticed any difference, dye release is almost immediate.
