My hair is kind of pathetic when it comes to holding a curl; I can let my hair dry from being sopping wet in rags or rollers and still find the curl drops out almost completely within a few hours. However I have discovered a secret that I feel it is my duty to pass on... Aloe Vera gel! Not exactly the raw stuff from the plant but the kind that advertises as after sun gel (although it does also say 100% aloe) So what I do is I separate my hair into 6 section and use a pump of aloe into each part and roll them up with rags (on dry hair) and sleep overnight. I didn't wash my hair for like 5 days afterwards because the curl just stayed in, it was amazing! Here are some pictures:

This also works well with plaits of all sizes.
Enjoy!

Glad you found something that works for you. I've found any kind of gel really helps hold curl. Just be careful that the aloe vera gel isn't drying for your hair type. I tried putting the after sun stuff in my hair one time and I ended up with a lot of breakage and it was really terrible for me. Never again!

I also find that aloe vera gel helps to hold curls in my hair.
What works even better for a stronger hold is using a tiny dab of SMT (snowymoon treatment, it has 2 parts conditioner to 1 part aloe vera gel to 1 part honey).
Your curls look lovely btw.

Your hIr look fabulous, and thanks for sharing! I'm presently looking for a way to hold curls. Has it dried your hair at all or is it good?

Aloe vera gel is actually a really common thing to use here. You'll fit right in :P

Great curls and I love your hair color! Nice trick with the AVG. :D I've got the No-Ad stuff as well. It may not be the "real" AVG, but I think it's okay to use with hair too.
