I'm so curious about how you curl your hair. How long does it keep? Do you ever use anyhing to hold the curl?:waving:

Pre LHC, I either used a curling iron which took HOURS with my fairly thick, stick straight hair and only stayed in for half a day before they became waves (even using tons of hairspray), or used those foam curlers you put in your hair and sleep on, which I just tossed in (okay, okay, my mom did it all for me!) and man, those stayed for two days.

Now, I would either do those or pin curls, and they both hold really well with no product despite my hair's natural tendency to want to get rid of curl, as long as my hair is damp when it goes in. :)

Right now, I either do pin curls, sock bun curls, or bee butt bun curls. I don't usually use product, but I have been using a little lately (cream or mousse).

I use pin curls, headband curls, and rollers, all with great success on my fine, thin hair. Generally speaking I don't use anything to hold them in, but I do dampen my hair with rooibos before I use any of them and it seems to help them hold.

What are bee butt bun curls?

GoldberryHair, check out my post about my success using beebutt bun curls. A beebutt bun is like a cinnamon bun except the coils of the bun go underneath each other instead of side-by-side.

I was meaning to make a thread like this one! Waiting for more answers!
When my hair was longer i had great success with a high(in order to create volume) cinnamon bun. Right now it's APL so if i do that i end up looking like lion hahaha!! :)

Does anyone use foam rollers? Do you like them? I was considering buying a packet of those, but i don't see them mentioned in LHC often, so i wonder if there's a reason (?)

Headband curls

Really easy to do and curls stay all day (even when I've attempted to brush them away) no spray or gel needed.

Bandanna curls: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=83181

Just removed and shaken out:

Sometimes I do sock buns, but the curls always seem to fall out within an hour or so.

Of course, the Curlformers curls lasted the longest, but they are a bit difficult to sleep in:

Rag curls. I typically don't use any product for "hold" because I like the curls to relax a bit.

Eirelin - Your curls turned out great! I will have to try this technique out soon :)

I use Caruso rollers that are mentioned fairly often on this forum and are the subject of several threads. I tend to smooth aloe vera (cut from a plant, have not tried a store bought version yet, though it sounds more convenient) through my hair after I remove them and finish fingercombing. My hair holds braidwaves and seems to stay in place better with aloe vera, so I figure it may help make the curls more presentable.

Oh, I would love to have Caruso rollers; I just can't afford them right now. I did have the basic set years ago but got rid of it when my hair was just too short and it just sat around forever.

Now I know I have to get the jumbo rollers and I can pretend that my hair could ever be as gorgeous as Ultrabella's!

pretty much any method of heat-free curling that uses damp hair lasts forever (my favorite are bandana waves&curls, sock bun, cinnamon bun(s), pin curls, rag curls)... I cannot believe that I used to heat style because it takes more time and effort and needs massive amounts of hairspray and other products to cement it in place and it still falls out

Pincurling! A set lasts for up to 4 or 5 days for me. (:

eta: I use either gel or setting lotion for best hold, but sometimes I do it water-only. dry pincurling in between helps preserve the set.

I'm obsessed with my Caruso rollers, much to the amusement of my roommates.

The curls hold all day, although it loosens into the waves I like after 8 hours. My hair is fairly thick and I don't do small sections because I don't have enough rollers, so it doesn't curl all the way up to the roots, but I prefer that look.

I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on this thread! I would love to try curling my almost-classic length hair! :D

Does anybody know of a good tutorial for rag curls? I've been wanting to try those for a while, but I'm not sure how one would go about it at my length. ;)

Another vote for Caruso rollers. They are all I use to style my hair now. I love the natural looking curls and waves they give me, and of course that they don't damage my hair.

I use foam curlers typically. If I use them on dry hair, the curl lasts all day. Wet hair, they last for days. I always put leave in conditioner in my hair to control the dryness in the ends.

And if I'm in a hurry, I'm a hot roller type of girl. Which always makes my hair feel like crap. :)

In my album, there are pics of my hair curled with 5 small bee-butt buns. I think that is the best wavy-curl I've ever gotten, but didn't last as long as I wish it had.
