I wish the article had actually stated the formula rather than providing a payment-required link to the original paper.

Interesting, although I would love to have seen the formula, as well as a list of shapes they categorize ponytails under!

My guess is that the hair equations are like fluid equations (which I only very vaguely recall from freshman physics).

I actually have access to the article through my university (yay library subscriptions to databases :p)
I downloaded it, I guess I'll have a read through.

ETA: Well.. I didn't quite understand it at all. Never did understand physics. The images of "ponytails" all look conical in shape. It's quite science-y. I figured as much.. :p
