I am not sure if I call them the proper way,but basically I am talking about 2 long braids that are fashioned towards the back of the head, similar to the image in the link (an old Russian picture) ....

1. But.... the braids can be secured either like a "U" ....or like a "W" right ?

2. for some reason I never see this type of doing 2 braids, seems to be very old fashioned ?? anyone does this updo or saw it around ?

I've seen ribboned looped braids at Cinco de Mayo festivities.

In the Russian style, you braid a ribbon into each braid, then tie each braid off with the ribbons, then loop the ribbons through the base of the opposite braid to tie bows. The same technique is used to make a single braid loop or two loops that aren't crossed over each other.

And only little girls wear these styles, as far as I know.

I noticed that Russian use lots of ribbons and bows for the pigtails and braids :-)

Yes :) and they are made of a horrible synthetic material that is not at all hair-friendly.

What kind of fabric is that ? and they make those bows at home,by hand or they buy them ?

It's a nylon organza, I think--and you can buy them in a store. You get whatever length you need and then singe the edges so they don't run.

I think you mean nylon organza only for bows right ? or for the ribbons too ? because I noticed some girls had shiny ribbons, that is not organza...?

From what I know, the entire bow and ribbon is one piece of cloth. It compresses when braided in, so it looks smaller and maybe shinier. Although if you post a pic of the shiny ribbons in question, it might be easier to tell.

In the pics you posted, one girl has store-bought scrunchies in her hair and blue bows that are attached on top of that. It's easy enough to make bows like that with a needle and thread by gathering the ribbon along one long end.
