I don't understand how this is possible, but, a few weeks ago I used ColorOops on my dyed black hair. My natural color is dark brown. I used two boxes. It worked great, but after two days and a wash/conditioning, it went back to black. What the heck? I don't understand how that can happen. Has anyone else heard of this or experienced it?
I really want this black out because I just don't want to keep up with dye anymore, and I want natural hair.
I'm using Chagrin Valley shampoo bars and Suave Naturals conditioner, if those products would effect the ColorOops I don't know...

Did you rinse in warm/hot water for 20+ minutes?
If the molecules(or particles or whatever they are) aren't washed out of the hair then they will reoxidize back to the pre-oops color.

I rinsed with the hottest water i could stand for like 35 minutes. I knew then how hard black is to lift so I knew I had to really do it right. That's why this is so baffling!

It took me 2 sessions, and 3 boxes of colourB4 (uk color oops) to lift out my dark brown dye. I left it on for 2 hours each time, and rinsed and washed over and over. You might find a second application will help lift more out-I definitely got a more noticeable effect with the second treatment.

Hmm, did it go back right after washing?
I waited to wash mine for like 4 or 5 days, but that really shouldn't matter.
Is it lighter than it was at first? Mine "settled" after a few days, but it hasn't gone back to the previous color.
This is quite curious.

Colour oops shrinks the dye molecules- I believe this is when the colour disappears. The rinsing for 20+ minutes is the most important part of the process. If the shrunken molecules do not get rinsed away, they will go back to normal size and your colour will reappear to some degree. Try the Oops again and rinse for as long as you can next time :)

How long did you leave the oops on for? How did you rinse? (obviously with running water, but did you just run the water over it, or did you agitage the hair at all?)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but even if you leave the stuff on for longer than advised & then rinse for longer than stated you will still have some dye molecules in the hair - how & when you wash your hair afterwards has little effect the remaining dye molecules will re-oxidise sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly so your hair will go darker again.
My hair had been dyed dark brown for years, I then grew out about an inch & a half of roots then I dyed my hair a too dark shade so I decided to strip the dye, all the dye looked to have been removed I had a gorgeous bright auburn colour all over with a slightly lighter 1.5" at the roots, I loved the accidental colour but within a week the ends had gone to a deep brown red & the roots a dirty orange/auburn colour...yuck!
I have now dyed a semi permenant medium ash brown - applying only to the roots for 1st 15mins then the ends for just 5 mins & have a nice even colour that is almost my natural shade - I think I may just leave my hair to grow out all the dye now:)

I don't know....looking at the success some of the ladies over in the henna removal thread have had with it, and my own success with removing heat treated, permanent dye, I'd say it is very possible to remove virtually all the colour with repeated treatments.

I remove my jet black dye about once a year when I get terminally hair bored. Always have.
I use Live xxl black as well which is hardcore stuff, I have to colour oops for 2 or 3 hours under plastic wrap with a bit of hairdryer warmth, then cool to warm rinse for 20 minutes, constantly shifting it around to remove all the black. And even then I may have to do it 3 times several days apart with a deep condition inbetween to get it all out. It does work though. And I even used it to remove purple henna back to chestnut.
Try again! and good luck :)

Hmm... thanks. I might just try the ColorOops again. Hope it actually stays brown this time, jeez.
I have heard that Head & Shoulders shampoo mixed with Vitamin C lifts dye also. Anyone try this?

I heard that a little mixed bleach ( developer adn bleach powder) in conditioner helps to remove color I have never done this but it lightened one of my friends hair she dyes it black and it lifted to a dark brown with a fair amount of applications but she didnt use a lot of bleach in any one application maybe half a package for all the applications total

nope. But I tried soaking my blue streak in just head & shoulders for like half an hour. It did almost nothing.
