I like to do the Chola bump with my hair - this sort of thing:

I pull back the top, twist & push forward to make the bump, then pin with bobby pins to my head.

I've read some not-so-great reviews about the mini maximas clip - but would it work for something like this? Would it be to big to hold it tight? Any input welcome - thanks!

Really? Nobody has a mini-maximus Ficcare to review for a pompadour? :(

Maybe you could try posting in the Ficcare thread in the Hair Accessories section?

I had some mini Maxes years ago and sold them - they are teeny tiny, and the springs are incredibly strong (some people found they were too stiff for their hands to use comfortably) but I've never attempted this sort of style.

Ah. Good call. I'll go there.

Teeny tiny with a strong spring is good. Might be just what I need.

I just use plain old metal tension barrettes to pin my bangs back like that - the little triangular ones that you bend to pop open, and push against your head to pop closed. They aren't cute, but they hold all day for me.
