I designer has sent their models down the catwalk with beautiful grey hair (sadly, they're wigs).

I love that Kristen McMenamy has done it for REAL http://www.haircolorsideas.com/in-fashion/kristen-mcmenamy-hair/

I never thought she was all that stunning back in the day with her short cropped hair, but with the long silver she looks AMAZING and I love the way she has truly embraced her grays!

Every time I see a woman with long, beautiful gray hair, I just stare and admire her. I think it's so regal!

Great article for checking out what colours look good with cool, silvery hair as well! Colour choice can make all the difference, as our fearless leader Mellie pointed out!:D

Great article...thanks for posting. Personally, I think they all look absolutely stunning with the beautiful silver hair. It will be a beautiful time in my life when I do graduate to a point where I have long silver or white locks. My mother was finally thrilled when she got her first silver...she was over 60.

Thanks for sharing, I'm keeping a few of the pictures as inspiration for photoshoots (I'm a photographer!) I absolutely LOVE the wigs, the color and the length!
Sorry for my ignorance, but how hard is it to keep grey hair, can they be shiny? I heard once that their texture/structure prevented them from being very sleek. I can't see too well from avatars if this is possible. I have a few myself and they feel quite rough.

Kristen Mcmenamy looks amazing. I hope I'll manage as young as her in the next few years...

Oh, we are "in" alright! :D I had seen that article earlier today and was thinking that I should probably print out some of the pics and carry them around in my handbag so that I can pull them out whenever certain people insult my hair. :hmm:

I know they were wigs, but how magical did all those girls look together? Wow! Silky, shiny, silver tresses :inlove: Would have been nice to see a curly/wavy wig too. I wonder if this will fuel the trend?

Thanks for posting OP :)

When enough of my dye faded and my hair grew to around APL, I found that as long as I keep my coarse hair liberally conditioned from crown of head to tips (being careful of too much conditioner buildup and laying off conditioner on the crown sometimes), the even coarser whites will seem to straighten out, particularly if I detangle a damp head with a wide-toothed comb and after airdrying run the wide-toothed comb gently over length of hair once again. Gathering the hair back in your favorite hair fastener while slightly damp helps straighten out the whites as well (my hair is slightly kinky).

I agree completely. I stalk pics of her online just for inspiration. I think she has a dark streak along the centre that she has to dye to match the rest. I love her long pewter tresses. And her face! She looks incredible. But I suppose she might have had 'work' done, but I hope not. I wouldn't care anyway, she still looks fab. Grey and proud! What an example.

I think grey hair looks so nice :)

Whilst I love my brown hair and will embrace it for as long as I possibly can, I won't mind when I start going grey and I'll embrace that too. Infact, secretly I'm kind of somewhat looking forward to it.

Shiny enough for ya?

Pre-wash treatment with coconut oil, CWC. I've got a lot of silvery hairs that are as fine and shiny as my hair has ever been, but I also have some coarse, wiry white hairs, and they may not shine as much.

They most certainly can be shiny! My mom is about 50% grey/white by now and her silvers are so shiny they almost dazzle you in direct sunlight. I only have a few as yet, but they seem to be in the same condition as the rest of my hair. (Which, thanks to CO washing, is almost as shiny as my mom's despite my having a very different texture.)

I spotted my first white hairs just now at 23, and instead of being bothered by them I'm actually looking forward to going grey/white. My parents both went grey early. My dad had grey sideburns when he was 18 and in his early twenties his entire head was a mixture of blonde and white. Right now his hair is white as snow and I only remember him as having this. My mom went grey in her late twenties, but she rigorously dyed her hair before that, so it could be earlier. So genetically speaking, I'll probably go grey pretty soon. Right now I cover the hairs up using cassia to make them blonde and this works well enough. We'll see where it goes from here.

But dang those wigs are pretty!

Fun to see silver hair in the spotlight!:cheese:

I finally found a pic of me w/ the silver in my hair showing to use as a profile pic, though it is a bit longer now. I'm still having temptations to color, but hopefully they will pass!
