I'm going to a formal black and white party this evening. I'm wearing a black dress which is backless, ankle-length, and semi-low cut in the front. Usually I wear my hair up in a huge bun but want to look prettier tonight.
Suggestions with pictures are preferable. I might wind up just doing braids if nothing else. I don't have any fancy rollers or anything like that, just some normal hair clips. Annnnd I have to leave the house in two hours to go help set up.
Thanks!

It sounds like a very beautiful and elegant dress and the most elegant 'do I can think of that is a French twist!^^ That's probably what I would wear for such an event! :D I also tend to use my "back-up style", a regular cinnabun... and it would almost be a shame to wear it down in a half-up when you're wearing a back-less dress..

Oh my ...
Do you have any fancy combs, sticks, or other fancy hair accessories? I would think a simple bun would look very classy/fancy/dressy with a special hair accessory.
If it were me, I would do that or gently blow dry straight and wear it pulled over to the side. Or I would do a slick high pony tail with a fancy pony tail holder.
As you can tell, I do not have any experience with long hair ... yet.
I'm sure you'll look lovely no matter what. Have a great evening. :)

Thank you! I hope it'll go well. I'm wondering about trying to obtain some gardinas (sp) to put in my hair, but since my dress is black, I don't know if white in my reddish tinted hair would work. Would you have any idea how to keep the flowers in there if that'd work?
>_> Man I'm totally approaching this as if it's prom, even though its really a SUPER FANCY birthday party for my manager's 15 year old son. She even rented him a limo to arrive at the hotel, lol. :-D
Thanks!

Gardenias would need to be done by a florist. Be aware that when you touch the petals there often are dark finger marks on them later. Almost any live flower would be very attractive, though, and would make a plain bun look quite exotic!
... but gardenias smell so delicious.... oh dear!
Have a lovely evening. Your dress sounds smashing! :)

put your hair up in a sleek high bun with something fnacy in it, gardenias sounds lovely, just make sure they don't wither during the night. If you have some black hairsticks they would look nice.
