View Full Version : My hair doesn't like TreSemme products.

Is there anyone else here who's hair dislikes TRESemme's products? The shampoo and conditioner messes up my hair everytime I try it. When my hair is dry it gets really tangled and frizzy. I bought one of those monster big bottles and I had to throw it away eventually. Just wondering if anyone else here can't seem to use them.

For me, Tresemme works great the first couple times you use it, then kind of loses its magic afterward. Even if I clarify, it still doesn't help. =/ I decided to try Tresemme again on my last shampoo shopping trip and I hate it. I'm trying to get rid of it so I can buy another.

However, I have had success with clarifying with Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship S&C, it works wonders! This is the shampoo and conditioner duo I will definitely be buying again. :)

I have a mixed relationship with the Tresemme Naturals conditioners. They're 'cone-free, but you wouldn't know it if you used them blind. They leave such a heavy, coating residue. At first, I really liked them, but over time the strong "doesn't know when to leave" scent bugged me more, and the feel they left on my hair felt less like softness and more like a waxiness. I'm thinking of diluting them to see if that would help.

I bought them it was 7 years ago. My hair felt like it was waxy and I couldn't get past the smell. I didn't like the smell.

Yep. Hate that stuff. Though my hair hates most drugstore brands which is why I don't use them anymore.

I've been trying out the Tresemme Naturals conditioner this week & it has left my hair very... coated. Boo. :\

Strange, my hair is very prone to build up but the TreSemme Naturals doesn't cause such things for me.

I have been using tresseme naturals for a while and I recently noticed that my hair feels stringy and dry after the shampoo, but really soft after the conditioner and I am starting to think its not such a good thing. I think ill give the herbal essence long term relationship a go next time I buy s&c

Oh and if you have s&c you dislike or want to use up; shampoo is great as a body wash and as a handwash, and conditioner is great to use instead of shaving cream :D

I haven't tried them for years, but disliked them when I tried them (which is why I haven't tried them anytime recently).

I've been using the cone-free Tresseme Naturals conditioner with great success. It's the only Tresseme product I've liked. :)
But I definitely know how it is to have hair that just really doesn't seem to like one (or more) brand(s).

ETA: I will add that though the conditioner doesn't have cones, I believe that the shampoo does, and it does have sulfates. I don't use the shampoo.

I was gonna say that, too!

I really like Tresemme. I've used the Tresemme Naturals vibrantly smooth shampoo for a while, and also the Tresemme Luxurious Moisture vitamin e conditioner. No problems yet!

I don't know that my hair didn't like it, but my scalp hated Tresemme - I got really itchy and the only time I've ever had dandruff is after using Tresemme. I steer well clear of all their products now!

I've started COing using Tresemme naturals, and I've already found that if I don't rinse very well, I get stringy, coated hair. As long as I rinse thoroughly, its great stuff :)

I've still yet to try Tresemme Naturals conditioner, I know a few people have mentioned that although it says it's cone free, it feels like a coney conditioner. Hmm.. I wonder if there are some secret cones hiding in there with unusual names..

There shouldn't be, its states on the bottle 'no silicone' ;)

Maybe a lot of mucilage then? I don't know, I'm only guessing, but here's the ingredients for the Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner, if any experts want to cast their eye over it. :)

Aqua (Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Aspartic Acid, Lauroyl Lysine, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Ethyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Parfum (Fragrance), Benzyl Alcohol.

Thanks for the info pepperminttea :) Ooh I forgot to mention, I also use the Tresemme salon smooth serum. I was using one by GOSH professional before that was much better.. but now it has been discontinued :(

I am getting on well with the TresEmme Naturals range - in fact I've just recently bought a large bottle of the shampoo & conditioner. My scalp has been reacting to a lot of shampoos that I've used recently and I've found it seems to tolerate this particular shampoo quite well. So far, I like them. I know the shampoo isn't as low-sulphate as they claim (ALS) - but it's working ok for me. I'll keep an eye out for buildup! I find the Naturals conditioner is very good for an SMT.

BUT I agree with many of the other posters and have always found the rest of the range nothing special. Cheap (ish) and nasty, really.

I use a low sulfate shampoo from the naturals line and I really like it, I don't use the conditioner though.

For me it depends which.

My hair really likes the Naturals shampoo&condish, and the 24 hour body conditioner. I also use the argan oil hair smoothing serum with good results.

My hair doesn't like their moisturising shampoo and conditioner at all though, it gets very dry.

I really like the Tresemme Naturals conditioners, i tried the shampoo last year but didn't like it. Have restocked up on the conditioners though when they're on sale for half price or less. Because at £1.50-£2 for 900ml (or something like that) it's a really good deal...for my hair at least :) i agree though it does feel very coney, that's probably why i like it, it makes my hair feel really soft. I should have added i use it to co-wash with.

I don't like them either. The only thing I like from Tresemme is the waterless (no wash) freshstart foam shampoo.

Eugh, TreSemme conditioner leaves my hair feeling both greasy and dry somehow. It feels terrible to run my hand through it after a TreSemme wash.

At first, I liked using their products. But, in the long term, my hair didn't really get along with them too well.

i used to use Tresemme and liked it ok, but I think they maybe changed the formula (here in the UK anyway) as it just seem to agree with me anymore.

I only like their Clarifying Shampoo and Heat Protectant.

I love the Naturals line. I use the conditioner only, but it's a godsend when I want silky, soft hair. It does cause my hair to be limp when I use too much. The key is to use as little as possible, and rinse out well. A tiny, pea-sized amount is great as a leave-in.

One thing I should mention - if you get this conditioner anywhere near your scalp, you end up a greaseball the next day. My scalp doesn't really produce that much oil itself, this conditioner somehow causes it to go crazy.

I've recently come to the same conclusion but rather it's my scalp that has grown to hate them. I've been using the Naturals line for almost a whole year and was completely in love but the past week my scalp developed insane build up that became itchy and gross. Even shampooing twice did nothing to cure it. I tried no conditioner on the scalp and that didn't work. Then I tried extra moisture on the scalp and still the same problem. Picked up Giovanni's Triple Tea shampoo and Suave Naturals conditioner and it's soooo much better.mehat a shame because for a long while I was in love with Tresemme Naturals.

I have been using Tresemme Naturals and I thought that it was ok. Then I read this thread and started to think. Yes, my hair has felt like it was dry lately. Strands were kind of sticking together and so on. I thought it was because of winter or maybe I hade managed to damage my hair somehow. Now I tried another conditioner I have and my hair is now sleek and shiny again. So it has to be Tresemme? Sigh. I bought a huge bottle of it and I have half of it left. Maybe I just use it for shaving my legs then...

I have been thinking about this. Maybe this conditioner washes away the oily kind of sebum and leaves the waxy kind to the hair. So maybe the build-up isn't some ingredient in the conditioner? Could it be the hairs own waxy sebum?

I only like there heat protectant the rest makes my hair sticky and weighed down. When i COd with it my boyfriend asked me why I was going out with a hot oil treatment on. Yeah not using that again.

My hair likes the Naturals conditioners,, specialy as a base for my deep treatments...but sometimes it's kind of make my hair too mushy for my liking. Never tried the coney products tho

My hair really likes the Tresemme naturals range My hair feels really clean, soft & nice & shiny since I started using it last month.
However - has anyone else noticed that the low sulphate shampoo contains dimethicone?!

LocustSpawning

Hellucy, yeah, I did notice that actually! Didn't really expect that. I've been using it for a while and haven't experienced any build up problems though.

My hair hates Tresemme products, except the Naturals line. I have both conditioners from that line and my hair loves them. They also work amazing on my puppy's hair, he has very woolly annoying hair and the conditioner helps it a lot, it's much more manageable after a good condition with the Tresemme aloe vera conditioner.

I purchased their sulphate-free shampoo & conditioner. I don't know what was in it, but it BURNED my scalp! I tossed it immediately. My MIL saw it in the waste basket and wanted to fish it out. I said "NO!" She insisted it would be okay to use on my 4 year old. I refused -- if I don't think it's good enough for me to use, how can it be good for HER young and tender skin and scalp?!? I'd rather throw my money away than risk her getting a rash or irritation!

(p.s. where do I find the cute animated emoji?)

I absolutely love tresemme! My hair feels so soft and moisturized whenever I use it. I don't even need to detangle or apply a leave-in afterwards! :)

The only product from this line I ever used was the old black bottles of the "Natural Shampoo and Conditioner" - they appear to have changed the name to "Clean and Natural".

I wasn't allergic to this - but this was years ago.

A couple of years ago I tried the new cone free natural conditioner - and I was totally allergic to the fragrance.

But I remember my hair actually liked the old kind and my boyfriend liked it too especially the way it smelled :)

Mine neither. Leaves my hair dry and frizzy, but there are some who apparently don't have any problems... maybe the sellers

Too heavy for my fine hair. I wouldn't say that my hair "hates" it, like it hates Suave, but I don't like the way my hair feels with it. My mom loves it though. Made me mad when I realized this, never thought I'd have to bring my own shower products when going to visit my parents!
