Need some ideas on how to use a hair ornament

Hi everyone! A friend of mine asked me if I knew how to use a Chinese hair thingy that her boyfriend's mother got for her on a trip. It looks like this (http://www.goodorient.com/2_Pcs_Miao_Silver_Hair_Ornament_Set_P19990_277#Det ailed), except there is only one piece, the figure eight shaped part. Does anyone know how to use this?

The other piece seems just to be a dangle on a hook you add later.
