Some of you may have seen this when I posted it last March (here in this thread: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=67727).

Well, I just wanted to add my newest picture showing my hair 10 months later. I've not gotten a trim since then and I think I need one to tidy it up, so will probably do so in the next few weeks, and then maybe post more pics.

I'm still so thrilled that my hair has grown. I used to obsess about it badly, bemoaning the fact loudly on the other long hair boards where I used to go, whining how it would not grow.

Hallelujah! Some things do change for the better! (Edited to remove that dancing cheese emoticon as it was giving me a headache!)

I'm still so grateful that my hair has finally decided to grow. For years it wouldn't grow, and had a big chunk in the back that was actually shrinking.

Here are some progress photos:

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/Thanksgiving2003/April_Oct03compare.jpg?t=1300407673
I think this was spring 2003. See the chunk missing on the right? I had gotten trims to make it all even and it kept shrinking up, breaking off, whatever. (The small picture on top is to show the proper colour of my hair). I think the growth problems were due to heavy stress I was under for many years.

February 2004, shortly after I left the abusive guy I was with for 18 years. I had gotten my hair cut at a beauty school. They took off way more than I wanted, but I was then starting with a clean slate of 17" hair.

Summer 2005 - me with my sweet man. My hair is finally growing!

A progress page I threw together a few years ago. On the bottom right, you can see how much they had to trim to get it somewhat even. The chunk broke off again over a few months. Was so frustrating!

(Showing the highlights I got last week, with my hair up).

From this past weekend:

Just got highlights and long layers put in. My hair is now 32" long, aiming to have more inches than years of life (I'm now 44).

And latest picture from this weekend, after having a few braids in it loosely on the top layers and then taking them out:

Thank you. I've heard the term "hemline" a lot, but never really knew exactly what it meant, as far as hair goes. What does it mean?

Thank you. I've heard the term "hemline" a lot, but never really knew exactly what it meant, as far as hair goes. What does it mean?

It's the line formed by the ends of your hair.
Impressive growing by the way.

Thank you. I've heard the term "hemline" a lot, but never really knew exactly what it meant, as far as hair goes. What does it mean?

Hemline is a reference to the look of how you trim your hair, how it looks at the ends, the shape such as a V or a gentle u-shape, that kind of thing.

Wow! For me this is one of the most motivating threads I have seen in a while. I had the same problem as you had, it broke off and even after trims it kept breaking. Thats why I decided to cut my hair to shoulder length, to start over with healthy and strong hair.
Seeing this thread is therefor very motivating for me, since somewhere in my head I was wondering if I would have the same problem again at the moment whenn my hair would be longer again...Thnx to this thread and I am starting to think...one big happy no to that!

Thank you for sharing, ur hair looks wonderfull!

Najade, I can totally empathize. I was to the point where I thought maybe my hair would never be long, that it might have reached terminal growth or something. How surprised I was when it finally started to grow and people were saying, "Wow, your hair sure is long!" :)

When your hair gets long, if you think of it, please drop me a note to remind me of this message, and to share a progress photo! :)

And thank you for the kind words from everyone else who has commented in this thread! (((HUGS TO ALL!!!)))

Inspiring story, and hair. Novel idea about inches to equal years. Now how many inches do I need to grow? Will I ever catch up with myself?

So glad you are happy.
