This is one of the buns I wear the most. It's easy because it just needs two regular braids and looks neat and elegant even some days after the last shampooing. This bun will work for medium to very long hair, you just need a bunch of hair pins ;). Hope you like it!

:thud:You have the hair I always wanted...So beautiful:). The bun looks great also. I can't wait to get to waist lenght and do it. But that'll take a few more years. Patience...patience.

Thanks for sharing! Beautiful hair and music. I've done this too (without the part) but used crimped hairpins. Bobby pins would never, ever work with all my hair.

my braided bun never came out so equal! But this kind works very well!
i used ~15 3" crinkled Amish pins ;)

That looks gorgeous, and I'm definitely going to try it. Question - is it necessary to pin as you go, or has anyone tried just winding and then securing it when you've finished? Is that even possible?

i prefer pin as you go.. maybe if you only pin the finish, the center will be fall out.
unless you have 4 or 5inch hairpins :D so that you can secure all across the bun.. (i'm not sure if i can phrase it right, sorry )

schweedie, I find that the results are much more satisfying if you pin as you go. Makes the style much more sturdy. If you wait until the end, you have a harder time trying to hold everything in place while pinning.

Thanks, Madora and NaRo! Guess I'll just have to try to find hair pins that my hair doesn't laugh at, heh.

This is a great bun , I am a thickie and finding my options limited at BSL. This looks fabulous but it hold like a rock and gets the hair out of one's way.
Thanks

I am going to try this!

People: Don't open bobby pins with your teeth. You'll know why when the first chip of tooth flies out. Use a fingernail on the hand that is holding the bun.
