Hey guys,

Recently I've been keen on trying out new hairstyles, and a lot of inspiration for that comes from movies, TV series and the internet. Last weekend I was watching LOTR again and stumbled upon this hairstyle:

Does anyone have any idea how to do the top part? It looks so intricate!

Any help is appreciated!

Do you have any other angles? It's chopped off at the top! It looks like it may be a 4 or 5 strand braid that leads into the fishtail, but I can't really tell.

This probably won't really help accomplish the style, but it breaks down and analyzes it quite well. Plus there are additional pictures. Just click on the Lord of the Rings styles and then Fellowship of the Ring. It's under Elrond's Council look. (I still love his Prologue look!) Hope it helps a teeny bit! :)

@littleizz: I'll try to get some proper screencaps :)
@Kaya: Thanks for the site

I think the top is a simple basketweave, from what I can see.

Eta: I say basketweave rather than a braid because of the piece of hair going straight horizontally maybe two passes above the clip.
