Flammable serum with heat styling?

I know that cones are necessary for heat styling, so I thought, I still have a perfect coney serum here that I could use for it! But then it says 'FLAMMABLE!' on the package, so I started to wonder if I should use something else.

My serum contains dimethiconol which is supposed to be dangerous with heat! So I have to use something else.. what actually CAN you use? Does anyone has good recommendations? (I just want to curl my hair ever once in a while, like 3 times a year or so :P)
And some tips for fine hair that can't hold a curl? ;)

That's pretty scary. I think there are products that specifically say "heat protectant". I wonder if those also say "flammable"?

It's funny, I found this page with Folica's Top 10 Heat Protectants. The first one on the list has the two ingredients they mention in your consumer affairs article--as the top two ingredients.

Edited to add: Also, that lawsuit doesn't seem to have any actual examples of someone's hair catching on fire. I wonder if the stuff you have is OK and all the heat protection products are technically flammable.

I find it pretty scary as well. My leave-in conditioner also contains dimethiconol, while I remember seeing it used by a hair stylist on tv (for heatstyling!).
