Maybe some of you already know this bun, but I wanted to share this style because it's one of my favorite bun; it's easy, need no pins, is well balanced and because of the french part the bun looks really big. And you can do this with a dutch braid, too.

Beautiful, and pretty easy too! (So long as you know how to French Braid) Your hair is gorgeous :)

It looks so easy, effortless and beautiful! I would definitely try it if my hair were longer (it's between sl and apl now).

Nice. One of my faves. I usually use a second stick to be sure the ends stay tucked.

When my hair's longer, I will try it :D

I tried this and I absolutely love it! My hair seems to be at good length for this, and I can wrap my dreadlock around the braid... Thank you so much for sharing this habioku :flower:

Gosh your hair is so lovely <3 is that your natural colour?

I wish I could do this but I struggle with doing a standard braid behind my head :(

Lovely. One problem I have with vertical hair sticks is that they seem to catch on my nape hairs and pull horribly. This looks like the end of the hair stick is far enough away from the scalp that it wouldn't be such an issue.

Just another reason I can't wait for my hair to grow grow grow! So simple but looks so complex, looking forward to trying this one (eventually!) :)

I'm wearing it today (I'll try to remember to take a picture when I get home) and I have to say, this bun is the stuff of genius. It looks enormous, and it feels weightless. I'm using a small claw clip to make sure the end of the braid doesn't pop out, but an extra stick placed at an angle would probably work too.

This is a style for me! Simple, but looks intricate, comfy and works both for special occations and every day life. Only problem is that my hair is still too short :D

It looks lovely! I will definitely try it.

I was surprised at how well this worked for my hair, despite the fact that when I tuck the tail of my braid, it ends up with the tassel pointing upwards, and therefore gravity is working against my updo. Even with that, it stayed for the hour or so I wore it inside. I think I might try Spidermom's trick of using an extra hairstick, just for safety.

Oh wonderful! Why didn't I think of that sooner? Just did one today, but I do need a pin though

Nice! I love it! Easy, too. You said pinless, but I would still have to pin the tail in place. The tails of my braids never stay in place.

This is really pretty and I will have to try it. My hair is at BSL right now so it won't look quite as nice as yours. I wear french braids fairly often so this is would be a nice change of pace. Your hair is beautiful by the way, I love the way it shines.

Incredibly elegant, considering how easy that one looks! Now, I just need to grow my hair....

My hair is not long enough yet but once it is I can't wait to do this :) In the meantime I am watching your other tutorial on doing a french braid, in preparation!

It looks weird on me because I have layers and one side is a lot thinner than the other.

I just tried it and I'm very happy! I have until now could't keep updo's in my hair. This is the first updo that will not slip out of my baby fine hair!

Of course mine was not as nice and thick as yours but I'm satisfied :-)

Thank you for a great bun!

That looks so much more complicated than it is! Beautiful, thanks for sharing. (Will be a while before my own hair's long enough!)

Thanks, habioku, that is a great idea and looks beautiful on you! I have a lot of taper in my braid, so doing your variation for shorter hair ends up looking better on me (but not good enough for a picture!).
