Many of us get what's called "protein overload" when we use to much protein in our hair. The ends get all dry and crunchy-feeling, and it just generally feels bad, usually until you do a clarifying treatment and then moisturize it.

I was wondering--what is it? Scientifically? Why does it happen? Why does clarifying & moisturizing help?

I have had it happen quite often...i think it has to do with dryness and stiffness that the protein causes to the hair. It literally makes it too structured so it has no movement, no body, and is rough throughout. I am sure it has something scientifically to do with how the protein in hair products bonds to the hair, thus casuing the hairshaft to "overload" on protein...idk, it sounds smart but really, i'm clueless, i just know protein overload sucks and is heck to correct.
