Hmmm, I haven't been keeping very strict track of these things, but it seems like I'm managing a pretty average 1/2 in per month.

Over an inch a month in VN. An inch a month normally, in England.

Well, since I have been avidly taking care of my hair, my hair grows over an inch per month and then some! :-)

I don't measure per month, but I average somewhere around seven and a half inches per year.

I can't seem to get my hair to grow more than just barely 1/2 inch a month, and often it grows a bit slower than that.

My first measurement was 28th Dec. Just checked and at this rate it should surpass an inch by the 28th of this month. Don't know if that's a normal or accelerated rate for me since I've never monitored it before. Pretty happy with that though :D

Well.. I went from BSL to almost hip since June. And I trimmed too..

LadyCelestina

How do you get your hair to grow an inch a month?

If I understand correctly,1 inch = 2,5 cm
Mine grows exactly 1,5 cm a month unless it's spring growth spurts time :D!

Guess I'm a slow grower! :p

About a half inch a month.

Back when I kept track it was about 3/4- 1 inch per month. I haven't been keeping track for quite a while but I think it's still growing a bit faster than average.

The best average is over a long period of time. I measured to my dye (I stopped dying just shortly before joining LHC) and at least in the front I got somewhere around 13.5"-14". The line is blurry now so it is a little hard to tell. It is even more difficult for hair in the back of my head but I am guessing it is jut a little bit faster. So slightly above average but not by much overall.

My hair grows at least 0.6 inch (1,5 cm) per month.

My hair grew 3/4" until i reached BSL and then I got between 1/4" and 1/2", though I stopped smoking nearly 3 months ago and have got 3/4" which I am very happy about!

Last week I stripped out old hair dye & was left with auburn hair my natural colour is already showing by 3 or 4 millimetres so assuming that growth is constant my hair grows roughly 1.5cm a month - I don't think that's too bad really!:)

I'm about 1/2 an inch per month too :(

Don't worry, that is average. It is also likely the average here on LHC but people can easily measure incorrectly, have too little of a sample number, or the question is self selecting. There were some months where my hair grew more quickly but overall it balances out to be in the range of average for me over the coarse of 2 years. 1/2" overall is a good growth rate I think :)

agree! its not an exact science and its only an approximate measurement, come and join me on my take a photo every month thread, its more fun to take a photo, that using a tape! and 1/2" a month is the average!

My growth's about 15 cm a year, that's almost 6 inches, so I guess that makes it 1/2 of an inch a month.

QMacrocarpa
January 21st, 2012, 11:24 AM
About 1/2" per month. Sometimes it seems slower, sometimes faster, but I don't worry about it much. Trying to get my hair to grow faster doesn't appeal to me. My body has a lot of stuff on its plate, and quick hair growth should not be its top priority! ;)

I just compared pictures from July 4th to now and I have about 4" of growth so about 1/2 inch per month maybe a touch more.

A very average 1/2 inch a month, although I'm doing daily scalp massages for stress release and (hopefully) increased hair growth, it's a bit too soon to say for sure though, so we'll see in a couple months. I judge/measure by new growth since my last henna. :)

Hmmm. I think you're failing to take into consideration that 1/2 inch per month is the average of all people, and this being a forum about hair health, people here are likely to grow hair faster based on proper dieting for hair health, scalp massage, and a wide variety of other variables that would cause those of us at TLHC to have a faster growth average than people who don't take care of their hair. Those who take great care and average at 1/2 an inch per month are probably still growing faster than they would be without effort.

When I keep up on my vitamins, which is lot of different vitamins to keep up on, my growth rate is about 1.25 inches a month. When I don't keep up, which is mainly when I'm busy when college is in session, it's about .75 inches every 3-4 weeks.

Yep, since I've only just started monitoring it's way too soon for me to be talking about my growth rate. The inch *I think* I got this month could be normal, or a summer growth spurt, or due to some of the crazy experiments I've been trying lately... who knows.

....its not an exact science and its only an approximate measurement, come and join me on my take a photo every month thread, its more fun to take a photo, that using a tape! and 1/2" a month is the average!

Maybe I'll try this instead of measuring anyway. I had to get someone else to measure for me to ensure accuracy and I don't think I want to keep doing that, it's a little embarrassing (to me) to reveal that I'm that obsessed with my hair. Think I might try length shots instead and maybe measure quarterly at most.

I get an inch depending on what part of my head I'm measuring. Around my fringe my hair is very slow, I put in highlights in Oct. and based on that I have about a half inch of growth, on the rest of my hair I have about 4 inches of roots.

Man, aren't there any slow growers out there?

I am super thrilled if I see 3" of growth in a year. My average is around ¼" per month but there have been months with no growth and then maybe a month with ½" growth - but that is extremely rare.

People think I'm exaggerating when I say I've been growing my hair out for over 5 years.

Same here. Hair skin and nails, flax oil, iron, multi...it's just so much to keep up on. But it really does make a difference!

I easily see growth since I dye and my roots start showing after a while. I get 1 cm usually, but I do have months were I need to dye twice. Strangely enough it doesn't seem to be rooted in seasons. Last time I had to dye twice was September, now January seems to be a growth spurt month.

WOW I'm envious! Mine is only about 0.5 inches a month. Summer is faster, probably around 0.75-1 inch. I've been getting a steady 0.5 inches per month since September even though my health has been in the toilet due to stress and not enough sleep. I gave myself a challenge to get more exercise and sleep in2012, so I'll see if that helps my growth rate :)

About 1 inch a month on average, but depends whether I'm having a little stall or a growth spurt. Definitely over 1/2 inch a month though. Which is good because I have a lot of bleach damage to get rid of and I like doing it little by little so it doesn't feel like I'm chopping off all my growth.

In the summer, I average about half inch a month.
In the winter, I get one inch per month! YAY WINTER!

I am going to try methods to keep getting the one inch per month after winter: healthy diet, plenty of water, supplements, scalp massage & of course, Faerie Magick! :magic:

patienceneeded

around 1/2 to 3/4 inch a month. Doesn't seem to matter what I do, or what supplements I take. Pretty steady here. I have noticed a *slightly* faster growth when I exercise (cardio) regularly.

NativeGirl
January 23rd, 2012, 12:44 PM
During the winter, I get about an inch of growth each month. During the summer, I get around an inch and a half. This past August I got two inches of growth, and I only know that because I had two inches trimmed off at the end of July and a month later, I was back to the same length I had been at when I cut it.
For me, I think it comes down to genes. My mom had super long hair (about two feet past her feet - she's only 5'3")…until a crazy woman cut a chunk out of her hair. After a trim to even her up length to two inches below her waist, she's already back to hip length and it's only been about 6 weeks. Crazy hair genes. :)

Good question--I don't know. I don't measure, and don't pay enough attention to know for sure. I just take pictures every few months, and sure enough, it does grow! :D I think if you get too hung up on how much your hair is growing, it's easy to get frustrated and want to do something else, and I just don't want to be that obsessed with it. As long as it actually grows, and it does, then the rate doesn't really matter to me. If I had to guess, I'd say somewhere between 1/2' and 1", maybe a little more.

Wow, cannot imagine one inch per month... My hair grows very slowly no matter what I do: scalp massage, vitamins, rozmarin shampoo... think is less than 1 cm per month :( I guess that's it, cannot do more than I already do!

about 1-1.2cm per month overall however i have a silly small patch on my right side behind my ear that grows about 1 inch per month. i bleach my hair so i can easily tell the extra growth apart from the rest, unfortunatly it makes my length uneven and led me to thinking the other side had bad split ends and wasnt growing even though i never found any >_>

Well, my hair hasn't grown any since Aug and it normally grows 1/2" a month. I have a massager with a scalp massager attachment. How often and how long do you massage for..?? I'm wanting to try scalp massages and see if it helps with my non-growth situation.
