I just started going conditioner only about three weeks ago. I was a little scared at first, I didn't want my hair to be an oily mess. Surprisingly, I am extremely happy with my results. I have been rinsing hair, then sort of scrubbing with a cheap conditioner, to get the scalp clean, then squeezing all the water out and adding a more expensive conditioner. When I'm not going out or styling my hair, I put in a really nice leave in conditioner to further moisturize.

The results: my hair isn't TOO different. It feels really nice at the scalp, but it pretty much just as dry at the ends. I was really hoping those ends would feel better, but not yet.

I'm pretty satisfied so far. Anyone have any long term results they'd like to share? I'm very curious about this whole conditioner only and water only idea. Thanks!

Try just the smallest drop of mineral oil on your ends. I used to have dry ends before I figured mineral oil out. :D

I heard that mineral oil isn't good for your hair. I can't remember why that was, but if it works for you, no reason to stop :o

Lol don't try telling that to ktani. I have used jojoba oil for 6 months and just started mineral oil this week. My ends are softer and less dry. Before, my ends were so dry, I considered trimming them off because I thought them beyond repair. Now they're soft again. :cheer:

There are many misconceptions about pure cosmetic mineral oil. Just about all of them are unfounded.

Fantastic! Cutting hair off for no reason is not good. Sometimes it is just a matter of the right remedy.

Did you clarify your hair before beginning to CO?
Do your conditioners have any silicone or protein in them?
Do you have hard water? Do you swim in pools? Etc...

Clarifying is essential to starting CO. And the dryness could be caused by build-up.

The affects that conditioner usually has on my hair depends on the thickness of the conditioner. Kind of liquid-y? I have to use a TON. Really thick? I use about half as much. Of course I CWC and use cones still, but those are just what I noticed.

I also use baby oil, Ktani has done a huge research on it and it seems according to this research that it isn't as bad as one thought, its actually very protective and I believe it prevents further damage to hair. I use mine as a serum as shown in my siggi photo!

I really should learn to read the whole thread before answering LOL! but it is excellent, I mix it with coconut oil and have got excellent results. My siggi photo is baby oil only used as a serum. It is an excellent hair softener and washes out much better than most oils ive tried. Again Ktani you have come up trumps! thanks:blossom:

same here though I was using EVOO, it had got to the point it had stopped working as well but baby oil has indeed saved my ends from the scissors, its nice mixed with a bit of coconut oil too.

Baby oil.. that sounds manageable. I may try that. How much do you use?? Like do you glop it on, or just run a bit through the ends?

Oh heck no! Only use a tiny drop or two. I put a drop on my hand, rub my hands together, then run them through my damp hair. Only use a tiny amount! I rub my hair abit too with my hands to make sure it's evenly distributed.

It's always better to take a small amount of anything new you're trying, to see how your hair reacts and what happens. It is much easier to add in some more than to take some out - witch always includes clarifying:D
That's my rule :) Few drops at the time..
